(Vanity) Hillary and the Drug War, or, Keep Your Nose Clean

Earlier this week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that the massive instability in Mexico (7000 murders in the past year, including multiple decapitations of policemen) is the fault of the United States. And this, despite the fact that the violence is spilling over into our borders.

What on Earth is going on? Is this more of the "blame America first" crowd shooting from the hip? Well, given the speaker, one might be tempted to think so. But in this case, she just may have something of a point. Even the Cato Institute, that known libertarian/rightwing stronghold, has hosted discussions on the Mexican situation, within the last month or so.

The current crisis in Mexico is an offshoot of the narcotics trade there. And this trade is not only lucrative, it is organized. How organized? How about Mexico's former drug czar taking payments for protecting the cartels, as mentioned in the link above? Or the United States government suing the Union Pacific railroad for narcotics shipments coming into the US by rail?

So yes, Houston, we do have a problem. And the problem is largely one of demand in the US, much as during Prohibition. Which makes the reaction of the current Administration so puzzling. Witness Attorney General Eric Holder's recent announcement that he would no longer prosecute marijuana-related crimes unless the use of marijuana was illegal by both Federal and State statues. OK, score one for dual sovereignty, the 10th Amendment, and all that, but isn't that just a wink and a nudge to the medical marijuana (aka Camel's nose under the tent) movement in California? And then you have the famous mention in The Audacity of Hoax Hope (or was it Dreams of my [Marxist] Fathers?):

"Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though"

So what do we have? The TOTUS announcing publicly that in his youth -- I believe he was referring to *high school* -- he drank, smoked marijuana, and took cocaine. But, true to his ideals, he never did heroin. What an shining example of leadership!

Oh, and one other thing.

The Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton -- just who is she married to, again?

That's right.

Bill "I tried it once, I didn't inhale" (I did not have sex with that woman, it depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is) Clinton. And I seem to remember the phrase "nose like a vacuum cleaner" associated with them too.

So I guess Obama and Holder can claim precedent from former Democrat Presidents.

No wonder the drug war is going badly.

Don’t know how many saw the ridiculous gun bashing interview on Fox last night with Greta and Hillary both telling us that all and I repeat all of the weaponry being used in Mexico was coming across the US border.

Greta quoted unnamed BATF agents as the sources for the information she was giving us, and Hillary crowed about how the Assault weapons ban during her husband’s administration was just what the doctor ordered.

Both of them ignoring fact, and settling on fiction. Must be TV.

“Earlier this week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that the massive instability in Mexico (7000 murders in the past year, including multiple decapitations of policemen) is the fault of the United States. “

Actually, she said the U.S. SHARES responsibility. Hard to disagree with that part, whether you blame the users or the country’s drug laws.

OK . Lets say that we stopped al the gune going into Mexico from the US,

Is anyone fool enough to believe they wouldnt get them from somewhere else.? Does anyone think stopping the guns would stop the killings? These people get their drugs from South American regimes who have no problem getting them guns too if they need them.

Would stopping the guns stop the drugs?? No way.
But yeah, Its our fault. Hillary knows what she is doing.
In a pigs eye.
