Need help finding info about communism experiment
Posted on 03/24/2009 12:59:56 PM PDT by mainestategop
I'm trying to find information on an experiment that took place in the 50s that experimented on communism. I think it took place in Wisconsin and what happened was this town adopted communism. I saw some news reels of it somewhere, there were soup lines, presses being shut down by mobs etc. I think it would make a good article for my blog.
TOPICS: History; Reference
KEYWORDS: communism; coup; day; experiment; marxism; mosinee; mosineeday; poverty; reddawn; wisconsin

I believe that experiment is still ongoing in Madison.

Some of the puritan pilgrims tried it as well in an early US colony.
Pick up a copy of "The Naked Communist" by Cleon Skousen for the details.

There was a commune in my home county in the late 1960’s. By the early 1980’s only about 20 people were left out of about 700 original inhabitants. Look up, “The Farm” in Summertown, Tennessee.

At first I thought you were talking about the “Third Wave” experiment in the 1970s... that was to teach how easily a dictatorship can take over.

P.S. The vast majority of people left because like communes everywhere, it only works if EVERYONE contributes. Most of the smelly hippies just wanted to smoke dope, screw, and lay around so the rest got fed up and left. Eventually most people got fed up with the place and left.

If it is, you will be disappointed.
It was a mock takeover of the town, staged by the American Legion.

Kind of like Cuba, huh? Only Cuba makes it hard for people to leave -- doesn't stop some from trying, though. And why did the Soviets have to build the Berlin Wall? Funny -- people are always trying to get away from the Worker's Paradise.
Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I haven’t heard much about “The Farm” for years.
Communal towns from the past.
Bethel,MO Aurora,OR, Amana Colony in Iowa. I seem to remember a town on the Indiana/Illinois border, but not the name of the town.
