There was a commune in my home county in the late 1960’s. By the early 1980’s only about 20 people were left out of about 700 original inhabitants. Look up, “The Farm” in Summertown, Tennessee.

At first I thought you were talking about the “Third Wave” experiment in the 1970s... that was to teach how easily a dictatorship can take over.

P.S. The vast majority of people left because like communes everywhere, it only works if EVERYONE contributes. Most of the smelly hippies just wanted to smoke dope, screw, and lay around so the rest got fed up and left. Eventually most people got fed up with the place and left.
