Big Look, I thought the same thing. Given the increasing viciousness of attacks we've seen on our conservative leaders, there is a Fear Factor involved in putting oneself forward.

We DO need heroes, and they are in short supply right now.
I feel that we conservatives have no voice in DC anymore....

I kinda love Newt. But Newt is too erratic. I never had to worry about President Reagan being too erratic. He may have slipped a hair here and there, but he never lost his deeply embedded conservative moorings. We knew he'd never succumb to the elite liberal blandishments of the D.C./NYC/Hollyweird establishments. We know he'd never sit on a couch with Nancy Pelosi playing symbolic kissy-face.
Newt should go back to being a university perfesser complete with pipe and leather patches on the elbows of a tweed jacket. He should start working on reforming academia from within. I think he'd be good at it.
Think of all the demoralized conservative professors who are abused by academia......they desperately need a leader, too.....and I think he'd fill the bill perfectly.

I hear NO outrage like I thought we would. WHERE are our leaders...or are there still any?
I miss the fiery Republicans that seem to have become total wusses in the past 2 years. I want Sarah and others who CAN be outspoken to start letting us SEE their displeasure at how things are going! I want some PASSION within our ranks...not creepy whining from the likes of McLame!
I am angry...and have no voice anymore!
Newt can be very passionate and it’s time he let his voice be heard on our behalf! He...and the others who can articulate our anger and frustration!
