I called over 1200 times tonight for Kris, so I figure he got somewhere between 800 and 1000 votes just from me.

Yeah, we Kris fans may be in the minority on FR, but we’re as strong as anyone else, lol.

Adam comes out in “costumes” every week and the others are dressed in street clothes. Is he getting a bigger clothing budget?

It's my guess that Adam is the only one of the males who is *willing* to go out on a limb with what he's wearing (i.e., "costumes"). Or heck, maybe some of that stuff comes from his own closet! Like those striped pants tonight... you never know. :) At any rate, Kris seems uncomfortable with anything but jeans and a scruffy shirt. And Danny seems smart enough to know that a ripped black T with rhinestones will do him no favors! LOL!

Please excuse the long-winded post, but I need to make some comments about tonight’s Le Pimpage De Adam and some peoples reactions to it.

Hey Commish ... I have to agree that Adam was given Most Favored Nation status tonight... but if you think back, I think you'll agree that the AI judges have been guilty of this behavior for years now. Do you rememember how they treated Taylor Hicks? they couldn't WAIT to get hiim booted off the show, and that did them no good at all, did it? And remember earlier this season, how they were extolling Lil Rounds to the skies? They are always trying to push their favorites. To hold this against Adam when he's merely their Flavor of the Month is a little unfair, I think.

I have a theory about the judges' use of the Pimp Spot, also (the pimp spot being the final one of the evening). It is almost always occupied by a contestant who is doing really, really well at the moment. I think it's simple: the producers simply listen in on rehearsals, see who sounds the best, and give them the final slot. They always want to end the show with a bang, so that viewers are jazzed and will run to the phones and vote, and giving them a whiz-bang final performance (whoever it's by) is an efficient way to do that.

I started LOL at his singing that word “WOMAN!” in the song. I mean, please!! That was the only part that was not believable. He is not giving every inch of his love to a woman, ew, gross. ;)

Was that Kris’s dad who looked sort of like Mel Gibson on the far left of his friends and family?

I thought I saw Mel Gibson out there too!

I think Adam was originally doing Dream On in the rehearsal but his high note shattered the glass AI ball on the set.

Oh, thank you for bucking the trend on Adam. I loved him tonight, his voice is PERFECT for rock. He's been growing on me for weeks but tonight I went all in and voted for him, then I downloaded it. That was so rock and roll I wanted to go wake my husband up and remind him of what we did in the car after The Who concert in LA in '79. Still gave Allison most of the voting time cuz she was hot tonight too, especially the hair and the boots, but man! After that duet I'm thinking Adam and Allison instead of Adam and Danny.

And can I just gently chide the folks who think 70's rock was about manly men? I don't think so. Go to youtube and watch some videos. Remember long hair, earrings, painted nails, bare chests, long scarves, and eye liner? The men looked like women and the women looked like men.

Why is it that we can’t stand Kara, really? What does she have that bugs us so?

I am already put off by the way she waves royally at her imagined adoring fans when she is introduced. (I’ve been at these shows and the audience is pumped and primed to clap and cheer for everyone, and thrilled to be there and doing it.) She seems to lack any humility. Contrast that with Paula’s intro, who always gives Ryan a genuinely affectionate look, and seems uncomfortable with the audience’s cheers.

OK, when Kara critiques, she actually gets out FORWARD and pushes toward the camera, and she used to nearly eat the mike. She does not say what she thinks as much as what absolutely is.

I think she is a know-it-all who is faking most of her “knowledge.” That would explain why she is unbelievably pissed when anyone disagrees with her.

She is pleasant looking and smart, and sometimes her judging is very good. Yet I still can’t stand her because of her attitude.

Randy is very down to earth and genuine. He tries to be helpful, and he probably has a lot of music industry knowledge, more than he lets on. He’s humble and modest, and gets excited about some of the performances.

Paula is sweet, if a little insecure, and even drugged, she sees the best in the contestants. She too is probably a ton more knowledgeable than she lets on. This season her vocab has improved tremendously, and maybe she really has sobered up. I think she is sweet and a gem in her own way. I happen to know she is very nice in person too.

I hated Simon at first, but he is a real what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of guy. And I agree with him almost every time. He is a tad brutal, but he is also very generous with praise when it’s deserved. He is the most important part of the show, because he cannot be shamed or bought. He WILL be honest. He is the one you have to please, and it’s not impossible to do. Just hard. He’s really grown on me.

But Kara does not fit in there. We do not have need for more music industry expertise. We do not have need for a braggy show-off. I hope sincerely that they are not trying to replace Simon with her. The show would DIE very quickly. If Simon leaves, the AI audience will be trying to find ways to watch Britain’s Got Talent instead. Kara’s no Simon.

I agree with you about Adam. He rocked the house. I liked his vocals better than Plant’s in some parts. None of the others can compare to him in pure talent. I always thought of him as a Broadway musical guy but now I see that he LOVES rock and roll, and this is what he wants to do.

Yeah, let’s all remember the 70s. Glam rock had LOTS of the men wearing glitter and high heels and makeup. Even some of the straight men, like Jagger and Rod Stewart.

Allison does not do that much for me but she is a very talented young girl. Kris was awesome last week, but only shone in the second half of his solo tonight. And contrasted poorly with Danny in their duet.

When they said Danny was going to do “Dream On,” I started cringing and thinking “No, no, no, no.” I KNEW that was going to go badly, and I was right. He definitely bit off more than he could chew. That last note was the sound you’d make if your hand got caught up in the chainsaw. I think he is absolutely darling and more of a pure undiscovered talent, so I want him in the finals. I hope he will be saved, because I EXPECTED Kris to go home tomorrow, but in reality, Danny was worse and needs saving. This is where either Kris or Allison should go home.

I have stayed off this thread this year (been involved on this thread for the prior 3 seasons at least) but reading some of the comments just have me wondering exactly what show most people are watching... I realize a lot of people are made very personally uncomfortable by Adam's, well, flamboyance. If that's the case so be it but they must hate bands like Queen and Freddie Mercury and David Bowie and Elton John and hundreds of others. So much about music (especially live) is about being a showman. But in order for it to really work, you have to be able to sing. And there is absolutely no doubt that Adam can sing. Listen to every mentor that worked with him. Last night Slash said, "He's got great pipes." Oh, and Slash knows a thing or two about working with a frontman who was, well, flamboyant. And Axl did his fair share of "screaming" (dead on key mind you) into a microphone.

Speaking of which, I've noted a number of folks who complain about Adam "screaming" some vocals. Likely the same folks who complained about Chris Daughtry doing the same thing. Would have complained about Robert Plant doing it. Or Roger Daltrey. Or Jeff Buckley. Or Steven Tyler. Speaking of Steven Tyler, compare Adam's "screaming" to what Danny did last night. Now I have liked Danny from the beginning and have thought all along that it would be Danny and Adam in the finale. But Danny completely blew that song last night with his trying to imitate Steven Tyler and missing it by a mile (he should have done Stevie Ray Vaughn). Now go listen to Adam side-by-side with Robert Plant on Whole Lotta Love. There is a reason why nobody covers Zeppelin songs. Plant had a very high voice and the songs are very hard to sing. Adam absolutely nailed a very tough iconic rock song. He may look weird and sing differently than the mainstream, but that's what makes him so great IMHO.

TIVO WARNING: The show runs over by 3 minutes tonight. 9:03pm.

Because of weather, House ran over on Monday night on my station, and I didn’t know. I usually watch 24 after time, when my girls are in bed and I can enjoy it~ well, it cut out right before Jonas gets blown up!!!! I had to watch it yesterday on Hulu. So I appreciate the warning, because it is frustrating when you don’t know it’s coming and it stops. ;)

I still think he will be safe. But week 4 can be weird. It’s the same week Daughtry was eliminated after McPhee stank up the stage. That's also the week they showed a real clear preference for Daughtry over the others (the judges) and I believe the fan bases of the other 3 came out in droves to protect their favorite. The same may happen again this year with Adam, which would be nice to me... I was mad at the judges Chris' year though, because I liked him, Elliot, and Taylor and wanted that to be the top 3, but their bias was over the top obvious and it did Daughtry in. IMHO

Pretty straightforward tonight, honestly:
  1. Adam - The only one to really nail both his solo and duet. The judges, as usual, gave him a free pass on essentially a copycat performance of the original while dining other contestants for the same thing, but there's no denying he was the best of the night.
  2. Allison - Duet was very good, solo was fine, but below expectations. She could be in trouble because this was a "wheelhouse" night for her and she needed to shine, but didn't quite make it.
  3. Kris - Actually overshadowed on the duet by Danny, showed he's really not a "rocker" in any sense. His solo showed the better side of Kris, which was the one who changes things up -- the only original performance of the evening, in my book.
  4. Danny - The duet performance was surprisingly good, but the solo was painful. Too, too much -- it would have been over-the-top from Adam, and Danny can't even come close to pulling that off.

At this point, voter loyalty plays as much as performance. I'm not sure who's really in danger of going off. Since this is normally the "surprise" week, I'll go with Danny.

I always love your summations. LOL.

I loved Adam... and I say this as someone who loooves Zeppelin and once smooched Plant (not to be confused with "made out with"... but I digress). I played Whole Lotta Love afterward and well... Adam really really nailed it.

Allison is great, Danny still charms me, and Kris makes me ZZZzzz.

We had Adam, Allison, and Danny on redial on various phones for a while here. I really need Kris to go. Then it's just wrenching pain saying good-bye to the others from here on out.

= )
