...March 14: According to police, NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth struck and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley on the way to Miami Beach. Officers drew blood to test for drugs or alcohol, but no charges have been filed against Stallworth....
Stallworth was headed toward the beach when he hit Mario Reyes, 59, around 7 a.m., said Miami Beach police spokesman Juan Sanchez. Reyes was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. He was near a crosswalk but it's not clear if he was crossing legally.
Stallworth, 28, was cooperating and no charges have been filed, Sanchez said....Police would not say where Stallworth was coming from or where he was headed...
...The Browns said in a statement they were aware of what happened....
Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns as a free agent before last season but hardly played because he was hurt. He was due a $4.75 million signing bonus Friday....

I hope that this is just a tragic accident and there were no drugs involved.
Seems to me that if there were drugs or alcohol involved, he would have been arrested. It said that no charges were filed. Just a horrible tragedy.
It's hard not to assume the worst of Mr. Stallworth. I suppose at that time of the morning, it just as likely that the pedestrian was intoxicated and walking where he shouldn't have been.
I don’t trust news reports, the police always hold something back it seems.
May God watch over the Reyes family in this difficult time, and provide Mr. Stallworth comfort as well.
As bad as this sounds, I hope this is the case. Alcohol is a terrible, terrible drug.
From what I saw on TV the pedestrian was in an area not intended for walking.
Two things come to mind immediately. First, my parents told me and I tell my children a simple axiom - Nothing good ever happens after 12:00 am. Second, this guy just signed a $35 million contract. Even if he wasn't drinking, why is he driving his own care in a city that probably has thousands of car services for a whole night than what he might have paid for bottle service at the first bar he went to.
Nah, alcohol is wonderful.
At 7:00 am, people who are not at work, or in transit to or from work, should not be out for a drive or walking across highways.
Hmm. When I read it the first time, I thought it said 2:00 am. Maybe Stallworth was actually going to the beach and is an early riser. Perhaps this is just a tragic non-alcohol related accident.

That statement makes no sense.
You had some wine tonight?
What?!!! What the heck are you talking about?!!! There are millions of legitimate reasons for people to up and about at 7am, other than work.
President Obama should outlaw cars and causeways.
He should also outlaw the beach.
Also, walking should be regulated. Walking increases carbon-dioxide output.
And one more thing.
In this calculated murder, am I alone in noticing the telltale signs of Halliburton?
They're all up to no good, probably getting into mischief.

... "the fatal car crash happened at a main thoroughfare; near the stoplight at Terminal Island..." ( McArthur Causeway )
A stoplight! Did he run the light? Was he speeding? Something!

If only Stallworth had grabbed the dead man’s credit card and used it about 70 times, he then could have received the Jamar Hornsby Citizenship Award from the Univ of Florida.
:-)
Hootin' and a'hollerin' and jaywalkin'. Degeneraties.
