I hope that this is just a tragic accident and there were no drugs involved.
Seems to me that if there were drugs or alcohol involved, he would have been arrested. It said that no charges were filed. Just a horrible tragedy.
It's hard not to assume the worst of Mr. Stallworth. I suppose at that time of the morning, it just as likely that the pedestrian was intoxicated and walking where he shouldn't have been.
Well, seems no one clear here by reporting thus far; as to whether Stallworth was 'going' to work; or returning from - or continuing - an 'evening of recreation'. . .from which we might draw our own conclusions as to legal ramifications here.
However, they do raise the question of legality of victim - that is to say. . .whether the victim was 'legally' or NOT; 'walking' with 'right-of-way'.
Living outside of Miami it would not surprise me if this was just an actual accident.
People take right turns from the far left lane down here and pedestrians follow the rule of the road even less.
Many time I’ve almost hit someone who’s walked into traffic, without looking what they are doing.
In fact, I had drove for over 20 years before moving here and in that time I only had one accident that was not my fault.
Since we’ve been here, two cars totaled plus three more accidents - none of them all fault and in fact the last was when a drunk driver side swiped me sitting at a red light. She was later caught, intoxicated, in the possession of heroin, crack and pot and gave the police initially her name as that of her dead sister.
Anything to do with traffic and roads in Miami is literally a life changing experience.
