As bad as this sounds, I hope this is the case. Alcohol is a terrible, terrible drug.
Two things come to mind immediately. First, my parents told me and I tell my children a simple axiom - Nothing good ever happens after 12:00 am. Second, this guy just signed a $35 million contract. Even if he wasn't drinking, why is he driving his own care in a city that probably has thousands of car services for a whole night than what he might have paid for bottle service at the first bar he went to.

Wrong. Alcohol is neutral. Just like any other thing a person can abuse, it is the person who can do terrible things because of it.
Jesus drank wine. To say he would use a "terrible, terrible drug" is to assign sin to him.
