U.S. Army To Buy $6 Million Of Riot Equipment (Obama plans to crush citizen protests this summer)
blacklistednews ^ | 2/25/09 | Watson

Posted on 03/06/2009 8:45:19 AM PST by pabianice

The U.S. Army is to invest $6 million in riot equipment, a fact that has furthered fears that troops will be used inside the U.S. in order to quell any civil unrest resulting from the ongoing economic crisis.

The U.S. Army Contracting Agency, based at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, has a post on the Federal Business Opportunities website, requesting the equipment and has received several notices of interest from potential vendors.

The request titled “84–RIOT EQUIPMENT” outlines the need for hard polyethylene Shin and Chest Guards, shock absorbing Forearm Protectors, Interior leg brace supports as well as knee and ankle protectors.

The ACA asks that the equipment be able to “safely withstand a substantial blow… from non-ballistic weapons or flying debris”.

The Solicitation also states:

The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 453998 with a small business size standard of $6M. This requirement is a [ Small Business ] set-aside and only qualified offerors may submit bids.

Interested vendors include Irish Brigade inc., manufacturers of hunting and safety gear with facilities located in the heart of Kansas City , Missouri. Federal and Military resource company MCLEARVISION, LLC is another interested party, as is Kentucky based U. S. CAVALRY STORE, INC.

In our article yesterday we highlighted the fact that Urban warfare training drills are taking place across the country as top analysts as well as officials predict a potential “summer of rage” across Europe and America as civil unrest from the economic fallout builds.

Are such drills really for the purpose of preparing troops for foreign combat zones? Undoubtedly - but other factors indicate that the drills may very well also be aimed at preparing troops for dealing with mass civil unrest as the economic crisis worsens.

There’s no question that U.S. authorities have been closely observing riots that have toppled governments in Iceland and Latvia and also threatened to do so in several other European countries. The fact that they have contingency plans in place to deal with such scenarios should they unfold in America cannot be disputed.

Indeed, before a media exposé forced them into a denial, Northcom revealed that one of the duties of at least 20,000 active duty troops that are being placed inside the United States would be dealing with “civil unrest and crowd control”.

The U.S. Army War College in November released a white paper called Known Unknowns: Unconventional ‘Strategic Shocks’ in Defense Strategy Development. The report warned that the military must be prepared for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States,” which could be provoked by “unforeseen economic collapse,” “purposeful domestic resistance,” “pervasive public health emergencies” or “loss of functioning political and legal order.” The “widespread civil violence,” the document said, “would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security.”

No. In fact, I never even IMPLIED that anything was “disappeared”. I suggested that the person research records (which is quite a ways from stating or even implying that such records no longer exist) and check the REPORTING that was going on AT THE TIME, to establish their facts.

Just because N.O. police are the only entity being mentioned in most reporting now (primarily because they were the only ones sued), does not mean they were the only entity which confiscated guns.

I just watched (about 5 minutes ago) a YouTube video of National Guard troops kicking in someone’s door and taking their guns, so the evidence is there if someone wants to see it.

Of course, it helps some people keep their heads in the sand if they can pretend that it was just those bad ol’ pollice over “there” in New Orleans police who are 100% responsible for the gun rights infringements following hurricane Katrina. You know, “nothing like that could happen HERE”!!!

So....is terrorism the same as civil disturbance?

It seems that because of the Patriot Act (I think that is the proper reference) just about anything can be called "terrorism."

I know that some domestic violence and other crimes have been claimed as terrorist acts to get greater conviction rates and longer jail time.

Of course this administration and the congress doesn't care about rules laws or the Constitution.

Got it!

Thanks. There is also an article from September 10, 2005 on reason.com which makes reference to police, U.S. Marshals, Nationla Guard, and specifically Oklahoma National Guard, as being the entities which confiscated guns. This was from a reporter at the scene at the time.

“Oklahoma National Guard seized weapons from the inhabitants of one home. Those who were armed were handcuffed and briefly detained before being let go.”

this the only reference to “national guard” gun seizures in N.O. This is about the best timeline tracking of the issue: http://xavierthoughts.blogspot.com/search/label/New%20Orleans%20Gun%20Confiscations Again....this was under the manditory evacuation orders of a democrat mayor...that resulted in a documented lawsuit..and also resulted in a clearly worded state law... It was not a federal directive carried out with federal troops...

That was one of the slams against the Bush administration, that he waited too long to send in the Guard in New Orleans. The real facts are that the then governor Blanco was responsible for waiting so long before making the request to the Fed. Govt......

Yet it was still Bush's fault.

Bush notified Blanco that he was ready to help, but she ignored him until it was to late to be effective.

Her and the NO mayor Nagle or whatever his name is are shameless ineffective leaders.

The Bonus Army March.

Tell your brother to think again.
Thanks for that link. I've never heard of either of the bonus marches. It's sad that the government has a long history of screwing it's vets, and being willing to violently put down their protests.

Lesson reinforced: Government only cares about itself.

The police were completely out of control until the NG showed up in NOLA. I can’t say that all NG respected the US Constitution, but the majority did because they were totally disgusted by the local police state that had been established. Basically the NG put some semblence of law back onto the streets.

There are well-documented stories of roving gangs of police coming in from out of state and conspiring with local cops to break into homes and businesses and loot them. They also conspired to kidnap citizens and detain them for days and then force them to leave the area. Once the NG came in, things got more under control and constitutional rights (2nd and 14th amendments in particular) started to be respected again. Until the NG came in, it was OFFICIALLY stated by the local police and sheriff’s departments that the US constitution was no longer in effect for anyone who remained in the area and that is was a de facto police state.

Ahhhhhhhhh . . . I haven’t read every post.

Sorry.

Thanks.

I wish I could agree with him.

I hope it’s true for at least a majority of our beloved military. That might well be true.

However, our nation is riddled with traitors as well as clueless ‘go with the flow’ idiots.

We need a new survey along the lines of that 1994 questionnaire that asked US troops if they'd fire on US civilians.

While I don’t believe that the military would fire on the American people either keep in mind that it only takes one political hack general to at least create an incident. Remember Dugout Doug MacArthur putting down the Bonus Army.

That’s only enough if there isn’t $7 million worth of rioting.

Perhaps going to be used in Iraq and to train the Palis in Jordan.

Thanks LucyT.
