Poll: Obama's rating at all-time high NBC/WSJ poll shows gap between popularity of president and his policies WASHINGTON - After Barack Obama's first six weeks as president, the American public's attitudes about the two political parties couldn't be more different, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds.

Despite the country's struggling economy and vocal opposition to some of his policies, President Obama's favorability rating is at an all-time high. Two-thirds feel hopeful about his leadership and six in 10 approve of the job he's doing in the White House.

"What is amazing here is how much political capital Obama has spent in the first six weeks," said Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. "And against that, he stands at the end of this six weeks with as much or more capital in the bank."

If the GOP doesn't start putting out alternative plans rather than politcal talking points, things aren't going to change. The Dems are seen as the party of action - the GOP is seen as the party of inaction. It's a recipe for loathing and contempt.

Stalin's was the "party of action", too. I have an "alternative plan": it's called "resistance". I guess that makes me a valid target for "loathing and contempt".

I trust Rasmussen’s poll better, he is down to 56 percent

Yup. Always more consistent, accurate and never publishes results in ratio but in the standard percentage format. So Rasmussen's 56%, when rounded up to a ratio value, suddenly becomes 6 out of 10 or 60%. Never trust any poll or media outlet that uses ratios when "reporting" a polls overall results.

Follow the money. Until it is painfully obvious that his star has fallen, the MSM will continue to pretend his ratings are high. Once BHO-bashing sells ratings, they’ll swing the other way.
