Carrie Fisher as Princess Leah
At 52 years, here is Carrie Fisher, looking like Mike Myers.
You have the right to open the thread or not. You opened it, it offended you, then whose fault is it?
I never said I was offended; just saying this thread is mean-spirited.
Besides, if you want to take the route your taking the thread’s title should be: “Carrie Fisher, she’s ugly now and boy is it fun to laugh at her.”
See my response to RobRoy. Never make any assumptions. And you know what makes of you if you assume something. your mind drifts to somewhere I never intended to. Now who’s got a mean spirited mind? NOT ME! You’re the perfect example of calling the kettle black.
I didn’t need to get on my high horse on this. Sorry about that. We all have our areas of weakness. I certainly do. I didn’t mean for this to morph beyond my original comment, but what I said does stand on it’s own, regardless of who said it or who posted this thread.
For crying out loud, I’ve been guilty plenty of times of the very thing I am complaining about on this thread! So don’t take it personally, please. This morphed into me using this as a soap box for the specific issue I was addressing. The finger points at me as well.
I see and know a fair number of “famous” people and was originally dumbfounded on just how affected they can be by this stuff sometimes.
No problem Rob. Again, I did not have any mean-spirited intentions when I posted the thread. I certainly understand where you are coming from. And I apologize for being so brash in my reply. have a nice day.
I believe the following demonstrate a lack of assumption on my part:
that be BUTT UGL*
.....man that is just a crime.
“Somebody feel like photoshoping some honeybuns on her head where that hairdo was?”
“now she looks like a younger Helen Thomas”
“Yeah, that apple would just be so pretty if it wasnt for that brown spot with the worm hanging out. LOL”
You may not have intended any ill will, but that sure is the outcome here.
The fact that Carrie Fisher *ever* looked that good earns her a lot of slack in my book.
AGAIN, people have different perceptions which I don’t have any control of, like I don’t have any control of what you think and assumptions.
Agreed.
Janeane Garofalo before...
...and after...
I agree with you RobRoy.
Go to the ‘fashion police’ threads and you will see more of the same.
We are all shocked to see such a change in this woman but we really don’t know what she’s been through, the illnesses and things that led to such a vast change. We haven’t walked in her shoes.
“Janeane Garofalo before...”
So pretty before, now just so crazy. She has some serious issues.
Mark Hammill gets a pass because he was in that horrible accident that resulted in it being difficult for him to move his face to display emotions.
In a free society no one has a right to not be offended, particularly a public figure who relies on the public paying them.
If you need the last word, have at it. I’m done with it.
I think it’s sad when entertainers have to take flak for aging normally or gaining weight (which many average people do as they age). So she’s not 19 and ‘hot’ anymore. Most of the guys I went to school with who are now in their 40s are balding, overweight and lack ‘hot’ too. But they’re still people.
But, but, we DO know what she's been through......with bringing it all on herself.
See my post #56 on this thread for her pathetic history.
If Ms. Reynolds-Fisher wasn't a Star Wars movie icon and tinsel-covered because of her notable parents, we'd think of her as she really is....a self-destructive, pitiful waste of everything fortunate she started out with.....i.e., connections, talent, money and looks.
Leni
Yes, I saw your post Leni.
None of us know what's in another persons heart, the pains, the hurts, the things that cause us to do things that harm ourselves. Only God know that.
We all do things that may not be good for us. I'm not above criticism of others sometimes but I try not to be too judgmental.
Script Doctor?
Seriously, her dad explained it in an interview. She has a knack for editing secrips to make them much more appealing.
She gets $10K to look at a “pitch,” $100K to look at a scrip and $250K and a piece of the gross to rewrite a script.
Not bad work.
Come on, the woman has been extremely open about her lifelong battle with bipolar disorder. Bipolar meds often cause weight gain.
Your self-righteousness is appalling.
That’s showbusiness! Whether you like it or not, your age and appearance matters A LOT. That is why they get the big bucks. It’s always the mentality of “What can do for me today?” The public adulation is an addiction for a lot of entertainers, which can go sour before they even know it. Why do you think the best plastic surgeons are in located Hollywood? Once an entertainer, you don’t own your life anymore. There are no private moments, your every move is photographed, your words are taken out of context, and most paparazzi’s will hound you to no end. This does not happen to the average Joe. Never will.
That’s ironic, because in this modern age, Fisher as Leia (it’s NOT Leah) and Kidder as Lois Lane (as my sister said way back, “Loi-Slain” for the movie end, ha-ha) are some of the VERY precious few women in “tough-woman” roles who actually pulled it off! (I can count them on my hand.)
