Sounds like Mexico.
I think you are only scratching the surface.
Oh well. The big city dwellers got the gubmint they deserve.
Sounds like reality to me. I read a CIA forecast about the year 2015 few years ago before all this started. It was worse then this outlook.

It’s my understanding that historically, crime has gone down during recessions.
The time to prep is now, guns, ammo and food. Decide now if you are and ‘ant’ or a ‘grasshopper’.
We’ve seen many times before what happens hardship happens in USA.
A flood hits heart-land USA, people come and help each other.
A tornado blows away a small town, and they rebuild it by themselves in a year.
The pioneer spirit is still strong with many in this great country.
Unfortunately, we’ve also seen what happens in places like New Orleans where people will starve to death wondering when government help will arrive.

A lot of reading here.
Ant here, you are right. So am I. Anyone got good freeze drying information?
Sounds like Houston. I live in the “safe for now” suburbs but have to go into the city several times a week, in the past at night because traffic was lighter. Was sitting at a stop light on the feeder in what is considered a relatively good part of town and many, many bikers with the number 13 on their back roared right through the red light - I quit counting at 34 - as fast and with as much noise as they could muster. No more night trips for Grams.
And then it spreads, out like a cancer to the suburbs, and the war is on.
Tell that to Dillenger, Machine Gun Kelly, Ma Barker, Al Capone, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bonnie and Clyde, etc., etc., etc.
Several prognosticators I’ve read recently (can’t remember names) think there will be a need for folks to re-form into smaller towns and groups for protection purposes. Know your neighbor, trust your neighbor, neighbor relies on neighbor to keep secure from outside influences. Sounds like a step back into clan/tribalism almost.
This is all swell, but it ignores Obama’s greatest strength - and I am dead serious here: An ignorant voting public.
This is why Obama won, in the long run. The rest depended on this key factor:

And you have just reiterated what the thread topic says. Big cities are hell, small towns and rural areas are strong in a catastrophe.
Dry goods, canned goods, but minimilize the frozen food in case electricity goes down for long periods, and can’t get gas for a generator. Think primitive.
