Every show is about how 2008 is better and more civilized than 1973. Feminism, homosexuality, free sex, wrong-doers as victims, politics . . . those 1973 white males are just Neanderthals . . .
No it wasn't. You've been brainwashed. Homosexuals were still in the closet, they couldn't be found to be beaten up.
That’s not how I see it at all. While in many things it does show the modern to be better (and lets face it, in a lot of ways they are) it does NOT show the 73 guys as Neanderthals. Actually it’s exactly the opposite. Tyler keeps wanting to think of them as Neanderthals and keeps learning that they’re frequently smarter than him and better cops. The strongest message of the show is that while those 1973 guys might have some issues they’re basically good smart guys.
Yes it was, I lived in the era not brainwashing at all. Homosexuals often stayed in the closet because it was safer there, you don’t get beaten up for being gay if nobody knows you’re gay. If you think they couldn’t be found then it’s you that’s been brainwashed.
You’re really hung up on this Iran thing. You’re also really hung up on blatantly misreading what somebody wrote.
Do you think next week's episode might be about how much of a moron Jimmy Carter is? Because I'm sure there is no agenda on this show at all...
No, it’s not true. It’s what the homosexual lobby wants people to believe.
Homosexuality was illegal then. They did hide their behavior because they could be arrested.
It’s the same kind of propaganda baby killers spread about women dying from coat hanger abortions. It didn’t happen.
This is a good example of what is wrong with the show - political correctness.
Who in New York gave a crap about Jimmy Carter in 1973?
HAHAHA that's like asking who gave a crap about Barack Obama in 2005. Genius.
Sorry but it is true. There’s always been a chunk of society that beats people up for being different, gay, black, nerds, hippies, the specifics of the sub-group change but how they’re treated by the tough guy element remains the same. And this stuff was happening at the time this show takes place. Heck in 1973 George Carlin had a joke in his routine about the difference between fags and queers, fags were guys that wouldn’t go out with the boys to beat up queers. That’s the reality of the era.
Homosexuality wasn’t illegal in all states, and even the ones it was it was rarely prosecuted unless it was tied to some other crime (prostitution most often). There’s always been a lot of laws on the books that the cops don’t care about, sex position laws are generally very high on the list.
Sorry but any show where the female lead is most often called “No Nuts” is just plain not politically correct. Of course if you really want it to be politically correct you can make it that way, but all that PC is happening BEHIND your eyes not in front of them.
More like asking who gave a crap about Obama in 2003. Carter really wasn’t on the national stage in 73. Sure he’d had a half assed attempt to endorse a Dem candidate in 72 that got crushed, and his getting a wopping 30 votes for the VP slot at the convention. But really Carter in 1973 was a guy few had heard of unless they were hardcore political junkies. That’s simple real history.
HAHAHAHA. 1973 was 3 years before Carter was elected President. 2005 was 3 years before Obama was elected President.
LOL nice math there you should work for the Obama budget committee you would fit right in haha.
Yes but in 1973 Carter was a nobody from a small southern state. Obama hit the national stage hard in his 2004 Senatorial campaign.
You should learn a little history. just because it was 3 years before he won the presidency doesn’t mean anybody cared who Carter was. Who knew about George W Bush in 1997? Who knew about Bill Clinton in 1989? A lot of presidents are pretty obscure 3 years before they win the election, Americans aren’t generally fond of high profile politicians, there are exceptions of course like Obama and Reagan (who’d been on the national scene for a long time before 1980). But in general you get a lot of obscure governors nobody knew or cared about 3 years earlier.
Haha! Learn about history coming from the guy who didn't know Carter won the Presidency in 1976!
Maybe you should learn to Google Mr. Barack Obama Became President in 2006. LOL.
Who said I didn’t know Carter won the presidency in 1976? Once again you blatantly misread a post. Work on those reading skills.
Maybe you should learn to read.
You might want to read along for more than the month you’ve been here before you start trying to pick a fight like this, okay?
Iran is not the current equivalent of how virile men behaved in the US in the early ‘70’s. They were good men who had no patience for the bad guys and didn’t have to be apologetic about collaring them. Iran appears to take malicious glee in harming people, just to assert their authority. Rather different, yes?
LOL Awww don't be embarrassed. Anybody can read past this thread and see you thought Obama in 2003 (a state Senator 5 years away from the Presidency) was equivalent to Carter in 1973 (a Governor already making noises for the Presidency). Tsk tsk read a book.
Your stupidity doesn’t embarrass me. Obama and Carter were equivalent in 2003 and 1973, both were obscure politicians. Obama stopped being obscure in 2004 with his functionally unopposed senatorial run. Carter didn’t break his obscurity until his 1976 presidential campaign.
