Sure he’d had a half assed attempt to endorse a Dem candidate in 72 that got crushed, and his getting a wopping 30 votes for the VP slot at the convention. But really Carter in 1973 was a guy few had heard of unless they were hardcore political junkies. That’s simple real history.
