Police: Man caught red-handed pinching 91 lobsters

No doubt the casino was steamed.

Ninety-one lobsters had somehow walked out of the kitchen at Bally's Atlantic City on Thursday.

Apparently they left inside a backpack and tucked inside a man's clothes, according to reports.

Good thing for him those lobsters were frozen.

Nobody stuffs live lobsters inside a jacket or pants.

The alleged perp aroused suspicion for a few reasons.

First, the overly bulky clothing.

Second, he was walking very slowly, police told the Atlantic City Press.

Third, kitchens are off-limits to the public, so an officer watching surveillance cameras noticed.

Soon the suspect found himself trapped, along with the young lobsters, and, as security guards tailing him muscled in to make the pinch, the man knew he was in hot water.

They'd quickly cracked the case.

"The lobsters were all recovered," said Sgt. Monica McMenamin, police spokeswoman.

Charged with theft and trespassing was Anthony Jones, 38, of Atlantic Avenue. Bail was set at $10,000.

The lobsters were worth an about $1,200, and that's a lot of clams.

No word if Jones tried to butter up the judge.

Bally's, by the way, is near the ocean, not the old bay.

"The lobsters were worth an about $1,200, and that's a lot of clams."

Something wrong here. Even at $20 per lobster, no man can carry 60 lobsters.

I am on the Maine coast. Last year some young entrepreneurs decided to make some lobster money the easy way. Just row into a lobster pound at night ( a pound is a pond that they keep their catch ) and steal all you want. It worked..for a while. What these geniuses did not think of is this is a small community. We know everybody. Sure enough, a sternman and his friend were caught. ( a sternman is the guy who hauls the traps, sorts, reloads and launches ).

It was a misunderstanding.

He works at the White House and was just picking up the main course for the State Dinner guests....

Stolen lobster-Maxine Waters hasn’t had that since after the LA “uprising” in 1992....

Very satisfying scene in John Casey's Spartina where he catches someone stealing his lobsters and lights into their plastic cruiser with a claw hammer.

This really sticks in my craw-Dad. This moral eel tries to net scavengers in his boxers and ends up with legal briefs. Send this guy up the river. He'll be singing a different tuna then. Check him it at Motel Six Years: where they promise We'll leave the lamprey on for ya.

This reminded me of a story I'd read about back in January. A guy was returning a lobster to a grocery store in Albany, NY. He had told the clerks that the lobster was bad.

"Store workers were about to allow Tessier to trade the $10.99 lobster for a bag of king crab legs when they discovered the lobster was all shell. Tessier had eaten it and put the shell parts back together, deputies said."

He was confronted and ran from the store with the bag of crab legs. Police showed up later on his doorstep, but they found that the guy had already eaten the bag of crab legs too.

Here's the link to the original story:

Actually....... that turns out to not be the case. There was beer involved and it was someone else's pants. No warrants were issued, the lobster was not injured.

Actually, lobsters are green until they are cooked.
