I was digging through some old calendars (I can never throw them away) and found a month with Delicate Arch. I figured that sometimes you have to just have a beautiful picture to look at. Click for FULL size. Also see note in first comment (from me).

Just for fun, this is what Delicate Arch looks like from the other side:

Hawaii Volcano Observatory Kileaua update has a couple of nice new videos. I just keep thinking at some point that Halemaumau vent is going to gas piston itself right to the surface. Hasn't happened yet...

Arches National Park is a breathtaking place. But everywhere in that part of Utah is postcard pretty.
Several years ago, I spent half a day once (with my wife) just lounging beside the Colorado River as it slowly wended its way past Moab.
Notice I still remember that...

Lot going on in this pic. Sedimentary layer upon sedimentary layer. Massive erosion. Tilted beds. Thanks for posting. Geology was my major way back when

One thing that rarely shows up in pictures is a large bowl the is in place between the arch and the point from which the image of the arch was taken. You could not, for example, walk straight from one to the other.
