UNICEF spokesperson Salma Hayek nursing a baby in Sierra Leone.
Hayek was in the West African country in September as part of her involvement in the fight against tetanus, one reason Sierra Leone has the highest infant and child death rate in the world.
But I'm guessing her humanitarian efforts won't draw as much attention as the "Nightline " television footage that showed Hayek breast feeding.
Bloggers, as expected, are going crazy.
There is a close enough view that I could count swallows! exclaimed Tanya on Motherwears Breast Feeding Blog, who was blown away that the scene was shown on network television.
Others were a tad cynical.
"Now heres a good way to call attention to your giant bosom while simultaneously saving impoverished children, wrote Buzzfeed.com senior editor Peggy Wang. Angelina who?
Whatever her motive, Hayek used her breasts as nature intended: She fed a hungry baby. For that she should be commended. If she also raises awareness that breast feeding helps build immunity, more power to her.
In fact doctors there say that because malnutrition is so rampant they would like to see women in Sierra Leone breast-feed for two years, wrote Kimberly Caplan on ABCnews.com.
But such behavior is rare. The reason? Men urge their wives to quickly stop breast-feeding because of cultural mores that forbid sexual intercourse with breast-feeding women."

Yes, she has a year old child that she is breastfeeding.
OK, I am a perv.
At least she put her funbags where her mouth is, or something like that.
I gotta hand it to her, at least she did something worthwhile. It was worth my while to watch it in a loop.
For Salma Hayek sure but for Courtney Love. I think a guy might have to have his stomache pumped to survive. Kuddos on your interview lately. I didn’t get a chance to see it.
Some of the comments here are, to say the least distasteful, but I really have to wonder if all these celebrities have the Lady Dianna syndrome.
Feeling stimulated?
Some people walk the walk... she appears to be one of them.
The addiction to breast feeding is a new one on me, but I can think of lots worse addictions.
She really has the act down.
Hayak: "Men urge their wives to quickly stop breast-feeding because of cultural mores that forbid sexual intercourse with breast-feeding women."
BUT I AM WAITING FOR THE NEXT HEADLINE:
"HAYAK has sexual itercourse with Sierra Leone man in public, proving it SAFE to have sex with lactatinng women."
Kudos to you Hayak for your dedication.
May your NEO COLONIAL superior conspicuous lactation inspire the whole world to sucking on the hind tit.
HAYAK, you show them Africans how to do it RIGHT!!!!! They are just ignorant anyway, stupid superstitious people with shamanistic mores based on experience............
I hope everbody gets where this neocolonial rascist UN progue HAYAK is coming from.
What a humorous thread, thanks to the Guys! If you’re going to be addicted to something, Salma, go for it.
Not to bring this down, but here’s what caught my eye:
“Men urge their wives to quickly stop breast-feeding because of cultural mores that forbid sexual intercourse with breast-feeding women.”
What cultural mores would that be in Senegal that would sacrifice the lives of the children for BabyDaddies’ pleasure? (94% Muslim is one clue)
hold
I think that was very nice of her.
Salma didn't realize it was actually this guy:
Yeah - that caught my eye too. And obviously there is no actual reason not to have intercourse while breastfeeding. (Well - not actually WHILE breastfeeding I suppose...)
Heck, I remember my wife saying the doctor said it was okay while she was pregnant - although I always felt a bit uneasy about it!
In my experience (2 kids x 2.25 years each), the biggest hazzard was leaking and spurting...I know... TMI...;o)
You can judge Hayaks expertise by watching a video of her feeding the little Seirra Leonean:

lol.. Ms Hayek’s ‘stimulus’ package has done far more for the poor and hungry than all of the bills passed by all Senators combined.
I say give her a medal.
I agree, it is also our Christian duty as it is providing evidence there is a God.
“Yes, she has a year old child that she is breastfeeding.”
One year old! Wow.
I don't know about that. Reaching your peak as an infant...I mean, what's he have to look forward to in later life?
And he probably won't remember any of this. Since he lives in an impoverished region of Africa, he probably won't have the luxury of pulling up the clip online at his convenience, either.
Of course if any evidence of his lucky meal *does* survive with him into adulthood, he will have bragging rights that no man in his town can match!
