Good evening everyone, and welcome to the new week's thread.
Our new president will treat us to another exhorting, scolding speech Monday night as the Senate prepares to vote on the Depression and Mind-Boggling Deficit Act of 2009.
Meanwhile Sec Treasury Timothy Geithner, AKA The Treasury's Own Tax Cheat, will unveil yet another bank bailout Tuesday...but that could change...stay tuned.
I appreciate the prayers more than I can say.
Prayers have just gone up.

How's things in your part of the world today?
So thanks once again!:)
Fine and quiet. It is 0430. Everything is still dark. Dawn will come in about an hour.
My pleasure, sweetie.
Does anyone know when the Senate vote is to take place? I thought it was going to happen last Friday, but apparently I was wrong.
What’s on your agenda for the day?
The last I heard they were trying for tomorrow. I think Friday was the last time I lightened to any news.

In the morning, I am going to prep for chapel services. This past Friday we did the “Jeopardy Pentatuch Challenge” where the “answers” were Bible verses and the kids needed to read the verse and then figure out how it fit into the Gospel message. We didn’t come close to finishing that, we only got four done. This week we’ll do it one more time. The remainder of the verses will go unanswered.
That is already prepped. Today I’ll be working on a presentation about that Master Spy, Caleb. Caleb sort-of gets a secondary mention in comparison to Joshua. However, he lead an exemplary life. He is faithful through the years and is rewarded for it. I’ll finish up the study on him this morning and then cogitate for a while to figure out how to present it. With junior high kids I don’t want to be throwing facts at them all the time. The presentation can make or break the lesson. This chapel will happen on February 20.
The following week will be a presentation on Job. I’m thinking of writing a skit for the kids to do. So, this idea is percolating in the back of my mind and I may reread the book this morning to help keep the story there. This is tentatively scheduled for February 27.
That is in the morning. I’ll be working at home so I can keep an eye on my substitute maid. I think my current maid wants a vacation but she doesn’t want to altogether quit. Last week she told me her husband was injured, he works on a nearby island, and so she was going to take the boat ~ a ferry which travels throughout the islands ~ to go be with him. She said she would be gone a week and come back to work on Tuesday of this week.
OK. There is just two of us. We can get by.
Well, she showed up yesterday, Monday. I was surprised to see her as the ship doesn’t come into port until Monday afternoon. She told me that she couldn’t go last week, that it didn’t work out. She said she came by the house on Friday two or three times but the doors were locked and she couldn’t get in to work. Well, yes! I was working away from the house and I was not going to leave the doors unlocked just on the off-chance that someone would show up to wash my floors. Hello!
Anyway, she told me yesterday, Monday, that she planned on catching the boat today and would send her niece to be her substitute. That is fine with me. We do have some shirts and pants that need to be ironed and I hate ironing.
BUT THEN, she asked me for a loan of $100 to pay for her boat ticket. She doesn’t know this but over the weekend and on Monday we have been asked for “loans” totalling well over $200. Now to but this in perspective a decent day’s wage here is $3.18. This is what high level office workers get and families can live quite well on it. To us it seems paltry, but it isn’t. So, she was asking me for 63 days worth of salary all at once.
I had no inkling that she would need it and I do not have $100 cash in the house. So I told her that. I just didn’t have it.
Bottom line, I have no idea who will be my maid today. Maybe the regular was able to get the cost of the ticket somewhere else. If she did then probably the niece will be here. If she didn’t then my regular may be back.
Who knows what a day will bring?
In the afternoon, I’ll teach my one class, grades 2 & 3, their music lesson.
Whammo, bammo, dead! You did it.

Thank you Nancy Pelosi and your lap puppet obama!
anyway...these days, whenever I sleep and wake up: BAM! the monstrous stimulus bill is right there like a lead weight on my chest.
This afternoon, tho, there was this variation..I remembered how controversial the seat belt laws were when instituted! There was a lot of talk about government intrusion into our lives back then on this subject! Anyone else remember this? Hadn't thought of it in years.....and look what's happening now! Amazing! How far we've come...
Apparently this bill has provision for a Health Care Office and Manager...something like that...to manage the rationing and prices and who gets what...lovely thing to think about when one is already ill.
AAARGH....for health care reasons, guns will be banned.
How does one carve out....reserve.. a bit of life and joy and privacy away from the state’s demands when the state becomes so intrusive?
Your “Jeopardy” game sounds interesting. Sounds like a fun way to get the kiddos to read and learn.
That is quite an amount to ask for in advance - 63 days worth of salary...
RATS have been trying for years to ban our guns. (sigh) Health care, guns, taxes, debt, what’s a body to do ???
Molly, Bev...depressing..very depressing!
