Bill creates 'Nazi' camps in U.S. for 'emergencies'
WND ^ | Feb 1, 2009 | Jerome Corsi

Posted on 02/01/2009 6:38:03 PM PST by driftdiver

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.

Heed the warning of a former Hitler Youth who sees America on the same path as pre-Nazi Germany in "Defeating the Totalitarian Lie" from WND Books!

The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that – as WND reported – gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

As WND also reported, DHS has awarded a $385 million contract to Houston-based KBR, Halliburton's former engineering and construction subsidiary, to build temporary detention centers on an "as-needed" basis in national emergency situations.

I keep hearing how people with shotguns dont stand a chance against the military. First a lot of the military will be with us. second the people in Iraq and Afghanistan gave our military a fit for the last 7 years. Multiply thos few insurgents by half of the people in the US and they have a problem.

Maybe. Maybe not.

However, it is clear we read different stuff. Also, I don’t believe everything I read.

The language WND uses is inflammatory (big surprise), but the bill is very concerning. Normally, I wouldn't make too much of this, but when you put this in the context of the Obama Jugend etc., it is troublesome.

You said — “So many FReepers laughed at such notions as holding camps for unruly civilians. Let this be a lesson, the tinfoil of today is the reality of tomorrow.”

It’s still *tinfoil*

For quite a while, now..., it’s been made absolutely clear by all in government that the next major terrorist attack is not a matter of *if* — but *when*. And so, when it does come, it could be a major nuclear or biological attack, with outbreaks of Islamic terrorism mixed in and around the country (in addition to the major attack).

I would *expect* to see a major metropolitan area *wiped out* by either a biological weapon or a nuclear weapon of some sort.

Therefore, the establishment of “National Emergency Centers to house an entire metropolitan area of refugees (yes, “refugees” in our country) will be absolutely necessary.

The wording of the bill...

SEC. 2. ESTABLISHMENT OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY CENTERS.

(a) In General- In accordance with the requirements of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall establish not fewer than 6 national emergency centers on military installations.

(b) Purpose of National Emergency Centers- The purpose of a national emergency center shall be to use existing infrastructure—
(1) to provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster;

(2) to provide centralized locations for the purposes of training and ensuring the coordination of Federal, State, and local first responders;

(3) to provide centralized locations to improve the coordination of preparedness, response, and recovery efforts of government, private, and not-for-profit entities and faith-based organizations; and

(4) to meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

SEC. 3. DESIGNATION OF MILITARY INSTALLATIONS AS NATIONAL EMERGENCY CENTERS.

(a) In General- Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Secretary of Defense, shall designate not fewer than 6 military installations as sites for the establishment of national emergency centers.

(b) Minimum Requirements- A site designated as a national emergency center shall be—

(1) capable of meeting for an extended period of time the housing, health, transportation, education, public works, humanitarian and other transition needs of a large number of individuals affected by an emergency or major disaster;

(2) environmentally safe and shall not pose a health risk to individuals who may use the center;

(3) capable of being scaled up or down to accommodate major disaster preparedness and response drills, operations, and procedures;

(4) capable of housing existing permanent structures necessary to meet training and first responders coordination requirements during nondisaster periods;

(5) capable of hosting the infrastructure necessary to rapidly adjust to temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance needs;

(6) required to consist of a complete operations command center, including 2 state-of-the art command and control centers that will comprise a 24/7 operations watch center as follows:

(A) one of the command and control centers shall be in full ready mode; and

(B) the other shall be used daily for training; and

(7) easily accessible at all times and be able to facilitate handicapped and medical facilities, including during an emergency or major disaster.

You said — “Sure, and if you believe that, I’ve got some real estate you might like to buy.”

Well..., then for the next major terrorist attack on this country, which may wipe out an entire metropolitan area — let me ask you, then, “Where do we have the disaster camps right now to take care of those refugees?”

See post #46 for the wording of the bill and the purpose stated. That should clear it up. And, like I said — where do you put a displaced city of refugees for the next biological and/or nuclear attack on a major metropolitan area?

"If true, it’d be a fatal folly for someone to try to get some of the folks I know into those camps. I’d be amused at the results of the attempt though".

Fact is, most American men would rather fight than be rounded up and put behind a fence.

Yep, I'd like to see somebody try to round up the 2 or 3 hunerd thousand it'd take to fill these 6 federal resorts.

Did you even look at my post? I posted a link to the text of the bill, and I didn’t do that for show, I actually read it. Doesn’t the provision for “other purposes” kind of leave it wide open? Why are you so quick to jump to the defense of Hastings?

No...this sounds more like some stuff I worked on a couple years ago planning contingencies if Cuba was destablized and has mass evacuations. Part of that was establishing temporary processing centers for families and singles.

In the past, tin foilers tried to make the new super max prison in Colorado into a nazi like concentration camp.

Take WND with a couple grains of salt.

In 1981, Hastings was charged with accepting a $150,000 bribe in exchange for a lenient sentence and a return of seized assets for 21 counts of racketeering by Frank and Thomas Romano, and of perjury in his testimony about the case. He was acquitted by a jury after his alleged co-conspirator, William Borders, refused to testify in court resulting in a jail sentence for Borders.

In 1988, the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives took up the case, and Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury by a vote of 413-3. Voters to impeach included Democratic Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, John Conyers and Charles Rangel. He was then convicted in 1989 by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate. The vote on the first article was 69 for and 26 opposed, providing five votes more than the two-thirds of those present that were needed to convict. The first article accused the judge of conspiracy. Conviction on any single article was enough to remove the judge from office. The Senate vote cut across party lines, with Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Democrat of Vermont voting to convict his fellow party member, and Arlen Specter voting to acquit.

The Senate had the option to forbid Hastings from ever seeking federal office again, but did not do so.

Saw this coming as soon as “America” voted to become “New Zimbabwe” last November. How long before the call comes for all Republicans to kindly report to the “re-education ovens”?

It won’t be the military or the government who is the problem that we’ll have to fight. It will be the Islamic terrorists who we’ll have to fight. Hamas has the biggest presence here in the United States and has for the longest time. Hezbollah also has a large presence. Both are funded by Iran (our enemy and Israel’s enemy). They’ve got military cells around the country and it’s been reported that Hamas has been trying to find out where certain people are for their “kill lists”, when the terrorism starts here...

The following is also from Daniel Pipes...

Of all the Palestinian groups, Hamas has the largest presence in the United States with a strong infrastructure, primarily focused on fundraising, propaganda for the Palestinian cause, and proselytizing. Although it would be a major strategic shift for Hamas, its United States network is theoretically capable of facilitating acts of terrorism in the United States. …

And then, Lebanese Hezbollah retains the capability to strike in the United States, although we have no credible information to indicate that United States-based Hezbollah members have plans to attack American interests within the United States, or, for that matter, abroad. I might add, in 2004, we had successes in uncovering individuals providing material support to Hezbollah, many of those individuals involved in various criminal schemes to provide the monies that could be sent to Lebanon, to the coffers of Hezbollah.

from Daniel Pipes... http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2003/07/the-united-states-at-war-with-hamas-and.html

So, the U.S. is not going to be the problem for the citizens of this country and neither is the military. It’s the Islamics and the Islamic terrorists who are the biggest problem that we have for “danger” in this country. It’s time to be focusing on the *real threat* — which is Islam and the Islamic terrorists...

Well, for one reason, we don’t have any major relocation facilities for an entire major metropolitan area being nuked or having a biological weapon dropped on it. That — just by itself — is *well past the time* for having major relocation disaster camps for a major metropolitan area. We’ve been *unprepared* for *way too long* now.

The major terrorist attack is coming. It’s just “when”..., as the only question. I think we’re living on “borrowed time” right now...

Substitute Obama for Mondale, Soros for Andropov and Tehran for Moscow. Almost prophetic...

What will happen in the United States if you allow all of the schmucks to bring the country to crisis? To promise people all kinds of goodies, a paradise on Earth. To destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principle of Free Market competition, and to put a big brother government in Washington DC. The benevolent dictators like Walter Mondale who will promise loads of things, never mind if they are realistic or not. He will go to Moscow to kiss the bottoms of a new generation of Soviet assassins. He will give the false illusion that the situation is under control. The situation is NOT under control, situation is disgustingly out of control. Most of the American politicians, media, and educational professionals train another generation of young Americans that believe they are living at a peace time. False! United States is in a state of war. Undeclared Total War against the basic principles and foundations of this system. The initiator of this war is not Comrade Andropov of course. It's the system. However ridiculous it may sound, the world communist system, or the world communist conspiracy. Whether that scares some people I don't give a hoot. If you're not scared by now then nothing can scare you.

Yuri Alexandrovitch Bezmenov - KGB Defector

Here is the actual portion of the interview.

OMG! Isn’t this what the left kept saying Bush was going to do? yet he didn’t do it, but the liberals have no problem with this?

You can learn a lot about the plans/activities of liberals by listening to their accusations.

I would agree that the most likely use for these would be in the case of the collapse of Mexico. That’s not a tin foil scenario, that’s a real possibility. Agreed that WND is using their usual hyperbole, but that doesn’t mean that the bill isn’t something to keep your eyes on.

But the terrorist attack relocation angle is explicitly stated in the text of the bill. Why do they need Sec. 2(b)(4)?
