My Personal Viking Kitty Just Ruined My Seedlings (Vanity)

Some of my gardening freeper friends (and cat loving ones) may remember me posting about my new portable greenhouse on wheels.

It's a four level metal shelf on wheels, with a plastic cover that zips over it.

I am very pleased with it, and was able to actually get some tomato seeds to sprout in a few days using it.

I had bought some tomatoes at an indoor flea market recently, and they were the best tasting tomatoes. The guy who sold them to me told me they were vine ripened in Florida.

So, I took the seeds and put them in pots and sprouted them in my new toy, my portable greenhouse. I was so thrilled when I saw those sprouts, and went out a couple of days ago and carefully placed seeds for passion plant, phlox, bell peppers, and thyme in it.

It was about 59 degrees here today, and after a week of fighting off a flu bug, and anticipation of the coming gardening season, I rolled my portable greenhouse out to the porch, where I could take advantage of the sun.

About 30 minutes ago I went down and found my greenhouse overturned, with all the seeds, soil, pots, sprouts, and some flowers seeds I had placed in it in an open container all trashed and mixed into a pile.

Walking a WIDE swath around it, with a look as if to say "Man, that was an experience," was my cat. I know what he did, he decided I had put that new toy there for his benefit, so he'd just jump right on top of it.

There was no wind to knock it over, and I had the wheels locked. I could also tell by my cat's expression he did it.

My tom is like that. He thinks everything placed in his world is there strictly for his benefit.

Once, I had a friend visit, and she brought her big expensive bass boat. She parked it in the yard.

I have a guest apartment, so folks aren't really exposed to my cat, since he isn't allowed in there. My friend is allergic to cats, she said.

Later that day, I looked out my window and there was my cat, sprawled across the bass seat, with that look on his face. The look he gets when he just KNOWS that new perch was put there for his benefit. You could tell he really appreciated all the effort we went to, putting that new perch in the yard for him.

Today I swept up all my dirt and seeds, all mixed together. I put the dirt back in pots, and no doubt this spring I'll have some lovely plants, all mixed together. I won't know what they are (I had labeled the pots) but hopefully they'll all sprout and do well.

I did pick out the tomatoe seedlings, and repotted them. I put them back in the pots I had labeled "Florida Tomatoes."

You have to love cats. If you didn't, you'd want to kill them all (LOL).

My big complaint is how all it seems I do every day is open and close doors for my cats. They seem to always wait until I sit down and am working on my laptop.

Solution: Move chair to within arm's reach of door knob.

Must have been the weekend of naughty felines. Our daughter got a plant-your-own-Christmas-tree a little before Christmas. She’s been taking great care of it, it had grown from little seed to 1 in tall, had about 6 branches to-be. Over the weekend, Bella, our personal terrorist, ate all the little branches to-be off of it. For now, we are hoping that it will survive...it’s just a 1 in tall stem though! We did have good luck with my “lucky bamboo” that I bought the day we bought our house...our 1 yr old ripped the leaves off of it the next day. It’s been nearly 3 months now and it’s got the beginnings of leaves again. Actually, it’s got the beginnings of leaves in places it didn’t have leaves at all to begin with!

So far, Bella hasn’t noticed the Jiffy seed starter thingy in the breakfast room window. It’s only a matter of time before those little dirt cups sprout tasty snacks for her though.

Best of luck with your tomatoes!!!!

Too funny! Hope your plants are ok. Animals can be such a pain, but I don’t know what I’d do without them. We’re down to two dogs—female rat terrorists. We lost our male just before Thanksgiving. The girls together aren’t half the terror he was.

To answer your other post to me—haven’t cut my hair in 20 years. Actually had “friends” tell me when I hit 40 that I needed to cut it. Okay. NOT! What difference does it make to them whether I have long hair or not?! LOL I figure I’ll cut it when I can’t brush it or braid it anymore. Once I cut it, that’s it. I’m not letting it grow out again. I can’t do anything with it when it’s short. It won’t hold a perm for more than two seconds, and as for styling it—ha! At least if it’s long I can braid it different or do it up nice.

I’d like to have some of your love in a mist and see how they do here! It’s amazing what the humidity will kill, not to mention the salt air. Stuff that will do inland even a short distance, sometimes won’t make it here. :(

Glad your neighbors are ok.

So—is Tsali out of the doghouse yet?!!

Crazy Nimh cat is absolutely ecstatic when the humans chase live prey.
It seems to be some form of primitive feline entertainment to him.
He almost seems to be laughing at us, even after catching the ‘invader.’

Though getting him to not try and assist in ‘battle’ with the pest creatures outside proved difficult until we moved.
Once he heard the coyotes outside the window, he decided not to try to assist anymore.
It was hard to chase off possum and worse when you have the cat in there trying to get his own digs in.
(Punt a possum sometime with your cat trying to claw the things face off, not easy to do with the cat in the way.)

I'm allergic to cats, but I love them. If I could only have a cat, I wouldn't care how much it wrecked my stuff!

Typical demoCat, eh?

That is so cool. Is it a good pet? Any problems?

She’s just one of the kitties, eats what they eat, play’s with all the usual kitty toy’s and uses the kitty box. Sleeps on the end of the bed.

That’s really neat. I’d love to have bobcat as a pet but it’s dang near impossible to even see them in the wild, much less catch a baby. How’d you get yours?

There are hypoallergenic kitties now.

In addition, there are medications you can take that will let you have a feline friend.

That is a beautiful cat! Is it a lynx? How old is it?
