My friend in CA is worried about their drought, too. We rarely have drought and would be thrilled if we could share some with you.

This is the first snow. (My grass is STILL green!) Here is a picture of the mountians, enveloped in fog and cloud, and turning white:

No, Ditter, I did NOT know that. That is valuable information, and I thank you for sharing with us! I think my GF’s toss out more seed than they eat, but that gives the quail and ground sparrows food. (Oh - and the little pocket gopher, who pops out, grabs a mouthful and disappears back into his little hole!)

Lovely, Lady..
Yes , It would be nice I could ship you some warmer days for your rain. We are approaching the time of year where we get the most rain..so here’s hoping!
I just watched the turkey shoo the squirrels off the patio..Big wing display and some intimidating stances.

Ah! So he’s a traveling tom!

Turkeys must be unusual pets since neither of us have heard much about it. You’re a lucky chick!

No, LJ, it’s not my back yard - (I copped it off Google images), but that is exactally how it looks this very minute. Dark, cloudy, foggy, and snow in the mountains. The snow has stopped here, but will continue tonight and tomorrow. Then, I will get some pictures of it, if I can. It only snows a couple times a year here - and it is beautiful (for a very short period of time).

Too bad your snow doesn’t last a little bit longer but at least you get a little treat.

I am trying to remember what they said about the fresh thistle, something like it gives out a halo that the birds can see. I bought a large bag of thistle at Petco and even though I could see the GF feeding at the other feeder they would not go near the thistle. I mentioned this at an old fashioned feed store (Wabash) right in the middle of Houston (if you can imagine that) and they told me about checking for oil. I checked and found no oil in the old thistle, put the fresh thistle and the GF were all over it in 15 minutes or less.

Beautiful, yorkie..I hope you get enough to make it pretty and it melts soon enough to not snow you in too long.
Going for lunch and a nap..BBL

That is beautiful, yorkie! Guess what, we have warmed up and it is now 62 degrees. I sat out for just a few minutes before fixing lunch. When the weather warms up, I make potato soup?....had been wanting some so it doesn’t matter. It was delicious. Had left-over cornbread and I buttered it and lightly toasted. Mmmmmmmm, it was so good.

I am going to lay back in my chair as soon as the kitchen is finished. See you ladies (and gentlemen, if they are around) a little later.
