unknown newspaper via internet

Posted on 01/31/2009 2:02:26 PM PST by woofie

Bangkok: A hippopotamus swallowed a circus dwarf in a "freak accident" in northern Thailand according to a columnist in the Pattaya Mail.

The Grapevine column reported" A circus dwarf nicknamed Od,died recently when he bounced sideways from a trampoline and was swallowed by a yawning hippopotamus waiting to appear in the next act"

"Vets said Hilda the Hippo had a gag reflex which caused her to swallow. More than 1000 spectators continued to applaud wildly until they realized there had been a tragic mistake"

I am glad that’s not true.

‘Cause I laughed when I saw the title...
which would probably mean I was going to Hell if it was true.

But it isn’t!

You need to check things out before you post them here. I got that email five years ago. It wasn't true then.

That was five years ago dude, things change and dwarfs start doing stupid things........

Horrible, if true. I feel particularly guilty because I can’t read that headline without laughing. I keep thinking of the Chuckles the Clown episode of Mary Tyler Moore.

Sort of.

Hippos mostly eat grass but they are known to eat carrion for sure and are reported to have been seen eating other types of meat as well.

It's sort of like saying a cat is a carnivore. They are but they will eat certain grasses and plants on occasion. Very few animals are pure anything.

A disappearing dwarf will be hard to reproduce on an ongoing basis in future shows. And spectators will now come to see the disappearing dwarf act.

At one dwarf swallowed per show, costs will increase dramatically.

There are a lot of business lessons in this story...

“freak accident”

Now that’s not very nice.

How about, "That's Od!"
