Here's the list of President Obama's invited guests to the White House cocktail party tonight -- essentially the bipartisan bicameral leadership of the House and Senate.
Six House Democrats, six House Republicans, six Senate Democrats, six Senate Republicans. Their spouses are invited as well.
Hors d'uvres -- chicken curry, wagyu steak -- will be served in addition to drinks.
President Obama, it should be noted, is not a particularly big drinker, though he has been known to enjoy a vodka martini time and again.

Shaken,not stirred?
Obama Bond - giving America the Goldfinger.
Our country really is in dire times. Especially our civil servants. They just keep the party going!
So did President Bush have a no democrats allowed policy or something? Why do I keep reading articles throwing that already tired word of “Bi-partisan” where now he can’t even have a cocktail party inviting some Republicans and it’s praised as that.
Give me a break.
Wagyu steak? Damn! That’s living high on the hog. Hey zer0 how about sacrificing a bit?
Which Senate Republicans? And what will their vote on the Democratic Party stimulus bill be?
Care to hazard a guess as to who the Republicans are???
1) McCain (of course)
2) Lindsey Poodle Graham
3) ???
Neither of those made the cut.
I should have clicked on the article.
Yeah, he would rather smoke dope than drink.
A capitulation party??
Wagyu steak?? Something about that sounds rather ominous.
Republicans better not turn their back or bend over.......
DEMOCRATS House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) House Caucus Chair John Larson (D-Conn.) Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)
REPUBLICANS House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) House Minority Eric Cantor (R-Va.) Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) Senator and NRSC Chairman John Cornyn (R-Texas)
Lugar, McConnell
Those two are already in the bag, I smell a mccain/Obama trick.
And which “Republicans” will be invited?
My guess; Graham, Spincter, McCain and all the other RINOs.
Can you say "jack deer"?
Who was it that said something like “ I could sell my soul and have steak with the king, or save my soul and eat beans with the ........ Okay who said it?
These guys need to have this on their hands for the big dinner.
“Wagyu steak?? Something about that sounds rather ominous.
Republicans better not turn their back or bend over.......”
I heard that Barney Fwank wanted tube-steaks on the menu!
I guess fried chicken, collard greens and watermelon would have been too over the top.
Though Barry does strike me as a Grey Poupon type of guy so fried chicken and greens may not be on his menu.
Really. Is this news?
Drinking and smoking? hmmmm.
