Excuse me, Mr. Obama...but...
Traveling on business this week in California. Tonight, in my "down time" which is short and usually late and followed by hotel room-service dinners and flopping on the bed for 30 minutes from sheer exhaustion after driving from Santa Maria, to Orange County, I wiled away the minutes tonight by watching pundits on politics, news, and surfing related sites. OK, I heard something like this on the radio earlier today. It was a caller into one of those "right wing conservative" radio shows, which will be banned in the near future by the "fairness" doctrine - But: We're about to go into at least 2.5 Trillion dollars in debt...
As an aside, do you know how long it takes to count to ONE Trillion in one second increments?
Go on...guess....
Over 31,750 years, Stop. Think about that for 10 seconds....
one...two...three...four...five...six...seven...eight...nine...ten...
Only 31,749 years, 11 months, 3 weeks, 6 days and 23 hours and just over 59 minutes to go!
OK - that was yesterday's "wind down" project. Back to tonight's:
So, 2.5 Trillion dollars in debt. OK...
There are about 304,000,000 citizens of the U.S. today. Bear with me now...
If we counted EVERY US Citizen over 18 Years of age, we would come up with 229,216,000.
Yes - you too can go to the US Census Department website and find the information needed to do this math (I know...I know...how sad is it that I actually did this.
OK...so 229,216,000 "adults."
If we gave EVERYONE in this demographic $1,000,000. Yes, ONE MILLION DOLLARS. It would only add up to 2.3 TRILLION DOLLARS. Less than the 2.5 we're heading for under this administration.
If you had ONE MILLION DOLLARS tomorrow - and so did your spouse, your adult children, siblings, friends and cousins - do you think MAYBE we'd stimulate the economy?
Would we all pay off all debts and mortgages? Wouldn't that help the distressed banks and lending institutions?
Wouldn't you take a few scraps of what's left over and maybe buy some stuff...a car? A TV? And wouldn't you at least consider investing some...even if only $50,000 or $100,000 for the future? You, and 229 million of your friends and neighbors...wouldn't that stimulate the economy?
YES, some people would screw up and "waste" this. Some would go out and buy a 5 million dollar house and default...but others would take their Million and make 2 or 3 or 4 or 20 more Million buy wisely investing it. We'll ALWAYS have the poor and the rich - give out 10 billion dollare and someone will screw it up - but even then they're screwing up by stimulating the economy.
Have we at least considered this option before we "invest" 2.5 Trillion dollars? If so, then why not?
Is it because liberal democrats gain nothing by allowing the American ingenuity and free market principles out of the shackles, whereas by making the voting public dependent on government (read here, Obama Administration), they secure power for a long long time to come?
And one last thing. Tax it. Tax the million. I'll take my $700,000 and be quite content - and the government's can apply my taxes towards retiring a portion of that debt.
OK. I know. I oversimplify. Shields up. Flame away.
Go back to sleep ‘caue while you’re awake you’re dreaming.
See my tag line before you snooze.
Is that anything like “TurboTax made me do it”?
Geez, take some math courses and most importantly.... dump that curse of a name!

This exercise harkens my mind back to the episode of Chapelle’s Show where reparations are handed out in the ‘hood.
I want the fraud, waste, and abuse czar post.
:-P
This thread needs a humor or parody keyword lest some MSM journalist trolls through and thinks it’s a serious idea.
Sorry - Under the new administration, that has been eliminated, it interferes with proper administration of the other governmental agencies.
Thank you for your service. God Bless You and Yours. - JM
You’re right.
I could use a space shuttle of my own come to think of it. And a small country somewhere.
You know if everyone in the country, heck the richest half would just give me a dollar....
Unless I’m incorrect (fat chance I know, what with my mathematical genius fully on display on the original post) what follows is sextillion. Interesting ring to it. Punchline anyone?
Well your math is "close" if you consider being off by several decimal places "close."
Here is the easy way to figure large numbers with lots of zeros.
Say you want to know what 1 million x 300 Million is.
or 1,000,000 x 300,000,000 = _______________.
Just remove the 1 from 1 million and add the remaining zeros onto the 300 Million and you will get your answer.
IOW $1,000,000 x $300,000,000 = $300,000,000,000,000
