I kinda figured Chris Matthews played the part of the ewe, given his homsexual yearnings for Obama.

Probably just like today, there were so many bureaucrats, stupid rules and taxes, one would have to take the party scene “underground” to make any money at it...

“Times were bad back then. To make ends meet, you had to turn your home into a pub or a brothel. We called it a kapeleia. Personally, I couldn’t even afford a drink in my own home, and the only way I could spend time with my wife was if we went dutch. But then we elected an archon named Obama, and he turned things around and got us out of the depression. Only took him 4 terms, too.” [/old Greek guy]

That’s what you get when you don’t a Zoning Board...

Indeed, drinking, eating and sex seemed to have gone hand in hand in the homes of ancient Greece. Hey, mine too. Except for the sex part.

Suspecting that archaeologists were missing something, Blazeby reviewed artifacts unearthed at several private houses across the Greek mainland, dating from 475 to 323 B.C.
She was struck by the fact that some houses had yielded hundreds of drinking cups far too many even for well-off families hosting lavish parties.
The most likely explanation, according to Blazeby, is that Greek homes doubled as pubs. So basically, no control-freak, government land zoning.

Or maybe, just maybe, the 'most likely explanation' is that Blazeby is a moron, these were pubs, and not 'private houses'.

Hey, my ex-wife ran a restaurant out of our home.
I knew it was a really good place to eat because every time I came home from a sales trip there were a bunch of truck drivers sitting around the kitchen table...
