Obama-Man, Obama-Man, does whatever a spider can.
Marvel Comics says it plans to print a second and third round of its latest "Spider-Man" comic book after the issue, which features President-elect Barack Obama, sold out in record numbers Wednesday -- just hours after hitting stands. The company expects it to be the industry's best-selling comic in over a decade.

I can’t stomach that. But the edit is accurate.

They should have hacked up the price on it to triple the normal cost. Irrational buyers would have paid any amount for it.

I like how they worked in the "comrade" jab that most people are going to miss. Nice way to lay out what Obammy's really about. Talk about back-handed...
Anyway, this is no big surprise. Spidey's always been a liberal-leaning hero. A lot of Marvel's characters are that way.

The company expects it to be the industry's best-selling comic in over a decade. Not since the days (1990s) when Bill Clinton's pals Stan Lee and Ron Perelman almost destroyed the entire comic book industry because of Marvel's monopoly on distribution (strongarming retailers to carry the full publishing line and chase after variant cover editions for "speculators" who would've been better off investing in tulips and beanie babies).

Is Peter Parker’s head missing the lower jaw? Or is he just a skull now? That is some BAD art.

I guess that Captain AmeriKKKa and the other Marvel characters are not going to be slurring America for the next 4 years as they have been for the past 8.

This isn't the first time that Spiderman has teamed up with politicians. For more on Spidey/Captain America and Rumsfeld, see here.

This will be a collector’s item. Just like Time magazine’s 1938 Man of the Year issue

I think the “Comrade” was photoshopped in there.

The comrade thing is a photoshop edit. It doesn’t appear in the comic.

I miss William Gaines' EC comics (and Wallace Wood, Bill Elder, Jack Davis, Harvey Kurtzman, John Severin, Bernie Kreigstein, Graham Ingles...
This editorial from Gaines was inspired by the Senator Kefauver (D-Tennessee, fellow senator to Albert Gore Sr.) Senate subcommittee hearings into the evils of rock albums, er comic books, and sourced from an article that appeared the Communist paper Daily Worker

Ah. Well, I’m on dial-up, so I can’t sit here waiting for all the original images to load. My mistake.

I agree. Personally, I think all of this is just like JFK... if this was 40 years ago, we’d probably be having Obama lunchboxes, too, cause everyone’s just jumping on the bandwagon to make a quick buck.
Do they like Biden? Obviously not very much, from Spidey’s jab about confusing him with a vulture =P
