Patrick Swayze checked himself into the hospital this morning suffering from a bout of pneumonia, which is said to be a complication of chemotherapy treatments for his pancreatic cancer.
Swayze appeared on television this week, giving an exclusive interview with Barbara Walters about his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Swayze was scheduled to join his fellow co-star and producers in presenting A&E's new drama The Beast to critics, which he stars in. After realizing he would be too ill to make it, according to A&E reps, Patrick asked that the show go on and that they pass along a message from him about how "unbelievably proud" he is of the work they've done so far on the show.
"You can bet that I'm going through Hell," Swayze recently told Walters. "And I've only seen the beginning of it. There's a lot of fear here. There's a lot of stuff going on. Yeah, I'm scared. Yeah, I'm angry. Yeah, I'm asking, 'Why me?'"
I think that is why it bothers me to see the truly good people in entertainment dissed; there is some who actually live outside the bubble — Julia Roberts is another, she has a ranch in Taos where she is raising her children. Swayze has a ranch up there, too. Another article I read said he was up there for the holidays and picked up a bug. UT is the “new” Hollywood culture that mostly disgusts me — the Lohans, etc.

Not yet, have you? It is getting decent reviews — though she has the medical community pretty ticked off because she isn’t suffering white coat syndrome and is searching out alternatives.
This new fascination, actually a hyper fascination compared to what was always a normal curiosity with actors, has left me disgusted. There are a few actors that I truly don’t care for due to their public stances on issues, but by and large I just ignore the industry. An actor is just an employee. They go to work, turn out a performance and go home. I respect the people who acknowledge what this truly is. They have ‘helped’ to create something for others to enjoy, but it’s not like the field of medicine, science, building homes for people.
I just don’t care what they have to say, or how they live their lives. I don’t care how John Doe from down the block lives. I have my own life. I have a circle of family, friends, and associates. They interest me far more than any actor. I probably care more about the dog catcher in Cleveland than I do any given actor.
I think back in the studio days they all kept a lower profile and a sense of mystery about their lives, in this new paparrazi society you have people like Paris Hilton who gets rich just by being famous and have zero talent for anything. I can understand why some want to relocate to other countries - like Johnny Depp has done for instance - to try and live a normal life for them and their children. I think this idea the media has that they own these actors is wrong-headed and I liken them being followed and having pictures of their kids taken no different than politicians who have their children harassed. I do enjoy a good movie, but I enjoy it more if the actor hasn’t done or said something that totally irritated me — like Sean Penn, for instance. You couldn’t pay me to see one of his movies.
I looked for it today at Borders but couldn’t find it.
The economy certainly is not hurting in Texas, there were so many people everywhere. I have made a promise to myself that I will never go again on a Saturday to the big city.
I saw something on the Fox last week that they based Christmas sales on credit card sales and they believe it may have been a case of people paying cash this year and it wasn’t nearly as bad as they claimed.
A good a decent man who has fought the good fight, and never forgot the important things: God, family, country.
I agree AC. I’m pretty much the same way about it. I would rather they be somewhat invisible when not on the big screen.
My statement that I didn’t give a hoot at all was over the top. Look, I am saddened to see Swaze (sp?) ill. I don’t like it one bit. It is sad to see, as a fellow human being.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Those who tune in to Thursday’s premiere of “The Beast” on A&E for purely macabre reasons (i.e. looking to get a glimpse of a man wasting away before their eyes) will come away disappointed.
Patrick Swayze may be battling pancreatic cancer, but you wouldn’t know it to observe the actor’s powerful performance as a loose-cannon undercover FBI agent in what is otherwise a fairly standard-issue cop drama.
As for that bracing performance by Swayze, forget about “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” and think Dirty Harry. Playing a fed who is out of control, his performance here is edgy, disturbing and all-involving. Even at its most contrived, “The Beast” works far better than last year’s homegrown A&E hour “The Cleaner,” with Benjamin Bratt.
Swayze’s manic, seemingly suicidal Charles Barker has just taken on a handpicked new partner with the colorful name of Ellis Dove (Travis Fimmel of the short-lived 2003 WB series “Tarzan”), whom Barker takes great pleasure in hazing. This instantly turns Dove into a nervous wreck and wreaks havoc on his dating life.

Patrick Swayze is said to be remaining upbeat in hospital where he is being treated for pneumonia.
“He is doing fine,” the star’s mother Patsy Swayze told UsMagazine.com.
“He sounds really upbeat and positive. We don’t talk about illness when I talk to him. He hasn’t even been there a week.”
The 56-year-old Dirty Dancing star, who is suffering from pancreatic cancer, recently told ABC’s Barbara Walters that he may only have two years to live.
“I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” he said.

The grieving Hollywood couple wrote an open letter in the local newspaper to neighbours in Ocala, where Jett was laid to rest last week. The 16-year-old died at the family’s holiday home in the Bahamas after suffering a seizure.
They urged people to “cherish your loved ones like there was no tomorrow”.
The letter, signed by the couple and their eight-year-old daughter, Ella, read:
“To The People of Ocala
The enormous amount of love, support and condolence we have received from this community has been most humbling. Comforting words, thoughts and prayers of Ocala’s citizens have made an impossibly painful situation, a little less painful.
The actions of Ocala’s community leaders, its law enforcement professionals, our neighbors at Jumbolair and its surrounding communities have offered us the dignity to grieve the loss of our son and Ella’s brother in peace. For this we will always be grateful.
From the people who drove hours to drop off cards and flowers at our doorstep, to the service providers who made Jett’s ceremony so beautiful, thank you. Every person who we have encountered has offered to do anything in their power to help us, but add that they feel powerless to do so. We want all of you to know that you have already helped us. By sharing our grief, you lessen our burden. For all of the people who have kept Jett in their prayers, know that those prayers have given us inspiration and strength.

I loved Roadhouse because (1) I love the voice of the guy who played Garret (2) Jeff Healey was cool (3) the speech he gives to the bouncers. I had heard the same speech almost word for word from my boss only months earlier. When I mentioned it to him, he said he had not seen Roadhouse
I will look forward to that vanity. I have wondered on it, since I used to be able to recommend this forum highly, but because of the hostility, I don’t as much anymore.
