Florida beats Oklahoma 24 -14

Posted on 01/08/2009 8:46:32 PM PST by navysealdad

Tim Tebow took over for Florida and the top-ranked Gators grabbed a 14-7 lead over No. 2 Oklahoma after three quarters at the BCS national championship game Thursday night. With two Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks and offenses that combined to average 99 points per game in the regular season, the Gators and Sooners were expected to trade scores most of the night at Dolphin Stadium.

But the defenses came up with most of the biggest plays in the first 30 minutes, and Tebow was the show in the third and forth quarter. Florida wins 24- 14.

Thank you, but that was some game, my FRiend! Ya’ll’s defense kept Tim hopping, and your offense made that one of the longest games in our lives! Lol, and we have been Gators for a very long time :)

Take care, and God bless!

Yup the Heart of Florida still bleeds red (and orange and blue!).

I remember hearing the loud boos from the crowd just before Fox went to commercial, but I though that was the crowd booing the OU player roughing up Harvin. And those boos were LOUD.

I saw a shirt this Christmas that said, “Superman Wears Tim Tebow Pajamas”

I don’t know what we’ll do without a QB who headbutts with his offensive linemen, warm smile.

Go Gators!

I think Tebow comes back, but Harvin will definately leave for the NFL. That’s ok we’ve got Rainey and Demps, also watch out next year for Emmanuel Moody.

And at least now Meyer and Donovan are back even in national titles. ;)

I hope Urban gets his back2back!

Ugh, I have to get to bed! Too hyped up but I finally got my 12 y/o packed in...to my bed! It was a very special occasion for a late school night. He promised he’d get right up in the morning. He loves Tim Tebow and is still wearing #15 as he sleeps ;-)

‘Night happy Gator!

I hope you are right, though I wish them all well, whatever they choose. They are trully a great bunch of young men.

I do remember seeing a clip on a highlight reel, where a former Gator great who had played pro, had come back for the SEC Championship, and was celebrating with the team - you can hear him telling some of the players that, “It never gets better than this... even at the Superbowl... tell them Coach..”

May God continue to bless them, everyone.
Go Gators :)

Great game both teams, especially the defenses.

Now that was a good national championship game. Close game, but Florida played tough and won it. Tebow is a great leader.

Note to the Miami Hurricanes: Thank you for allowing us to win the championship on your field. We really appreciate it.

Wow about OU being held to 14? The Big 12 South offenses were all paper tigers in the bowl games this season.

Congratulations to the University of Florida! I cannot root against such an outstanding young man as Tim Tebow.

But.....

Utah, USC, and Texas all have legitimate claims to the mythical national title.

Yeah pick before the half. I’d have kicked the field goal.

The interception in the 4th ended it.

Oklahoma cornerback Dominique Franks proclaimed that there were three QBs in his Big 12 conference that were better than Tim Tebow. Apparently the Sooners could have benefited from one of those three last night. ;-)

It's good to be a Gator fan.

We beat them by same margin on a neutral field already, so no big deal, I say.

hook ‘em

Like my Mizzou Tigers only putting 30 in OT vs. Northwestern.

The old axiom still holds: Good defenses can stop good offenses.
