how I spent New Year's Eve

This excursion wasn't as exciting as other excursions had been, but it was okay.

And it served its purpose; as mentioned elsewhere and everywhere else, when I was a little lad, I had been deeply impressed by an eastern European Yiddish folk-tale, in which it was shown that if one spends New Year's Eve under the roof of, and accepts the hospitality of, a poor man, God makes one rich in the coming year.

Being single with no dependents, no responsibilities other than cats, no bills, no commitments, no hard-and-fast "office hours," I can do things like this.

I hope this is of interest; it's different than the way most celebrate New Year's Eve.

I spent most of my childhood life under the roof of a poor man, my father.

In fact ever New Years he suddenly before midnight said, “You have to have money in your palm at midnight, it’ll bring you money!” and handed me a few coins.

The last year before he died we repeated this ritual of his and I said, “You know, you’ve been telling me this every New Years and I’m still poor”.

Made him laugh.

I never got rich.

But I had a good dad.

Me, I got all hammered up.

Alma from Air Export left her leather coat on my couch.

Young Bre'r Doug attacked me and got beat up.

It was epic but I got no video.

I decided to stay up late ... 9:30. Got up at 3:30 at the urging of my dogs and voilà, as if by magic, it was a new year! Haven't had to write a check yet so I can't confirm it is so. The dogs still think it is daylight savings time.

I feel asleep about 11:15 - glad I did, the site of his highness and her thighness lowering the ball would have caused me to hurl, even though I had consumed no alcohol.
