Utah beat Alabama because Alabama thought they could just show up and automatically get a W. Injuries along the OL didn’t help.
Typical media overreaction.
I’m a diehard Gator fan, and I’m glad we did not have to play them last night. Not sure who I’d vote for iff’n I had a vote. Those Utes looked good.
Well, they played up to their potential this year, and I give them their due, but Florida, Oklahoma, and probably Texas would slap ‘em dizzy like a redheaded step-child. Top 10? Sure.
Plenty of people (including me) thought that 'Bama was going to easily win over the Utes. I think there are four teams that, depending on the day could beat the other three - FL, UT, USC and Texas.
It is a crying shame that there isn't a playoff system. Utah proved that they deserve at least a share of the National Championship.
I hope we have a split championship again this year, whether its with Utah or USC winning the AP. Probably won’t happen though.
I think Utah could be competitive with any team in the country, and that includes even my Gators, and I would think their former head coach would even agree with me.
March Madness is a huge deal each year and earns millions for the NCAA. If it works so well for college basketball, why not college football as well? You don’t have to get rid of the Bowl games, you just have to structure them as a championship series. Market it right, and it likely would be bigger than March Madness. Until then, the BCS Championship will be about as legitimate as appointing Caroline Kennedy and Al Franken as Senators.
All it took was one season for all the Bama arrogance and entitlement to return....too bad. It was nice to be without it for a while.
The Goliath should have been Utah on the point spread.
With all of the “go ahead and crown ‘em now” talk during the pre-game show and that s#!+ talking of the Bama player right after the coin toss, I was really hoping for a solid Utah win. What a great game!
Utah just like FL exposed Bama for the fraud that they are. They are completely 1 dimensional on offense and cannot defend the pass. Same w/most SEC/Big 10 teams. Stop the run and they got nothing to fall back on. All they got is East Coast Bias. Pac 10 5-0.
GO Ducks
So, if Alabama played in the Mountain West, they would probably be the third or fourth best team in the conference. The SEC is obviously weak and so going undefeated or having one loss should not automatically get them into a BCS game.
You can’t spell BCS without BS.
I’d vote Utah just to spoil the process.
If I were Brown & Carroll, I’d be vocally criticizing the BCS every time a mike was pushed in my face.
Your Tide is getting beat up over here and you displace the dogs under the bed? I’ll hang up and take the answer off the air...
That's why I love college football.
If we have a playoff the trash talk wont be fun anymore.
I think Utah has won 8 bowl games in a row.
They beat the snot out of Michigan at Michigan.
Beat Alabama in their own backyard. Alabama was rated #1 for most of the season.
Since Utah is undefeated you could find a link of them beating someone that beat one of the teams that are playing for the “title”.
Urban Meyers was at Utah when they were last undefeated.
I think Utah has a pretty strong case.
Keys to the win: First, a player (I think left tackle) talked to an agent literally hours before the game. He was sent home. His replacement, from the right side of the line, got hurt in the second series. Two starters gone, and they couldn’t protect the QB at all. The first Utah series wasn’t just a no huddle...I think it must have been scripted as well. They weren’t even waiting for signals from the sideline. They caught Bama flat footed, and they had trouble with the no huddle pace all game. Kicking - at least two missed field goals and poor punting all game. This also hurt them against Florida. Bama is young, though....and I hate to tell you Auburn fans this: You won’t beat Alabama for a good long while.
