Those babies are the prettiest little things! Beautiful kitten! I am partial to dogs, but love sweet kitten faces and watching them play, too.
I have always loved to watch the Harlem Globe Trotters - they’re awesome - and funny! Neat train station! Sure glad we don’t have to type on those old typewriters!
Cute ‘friends’! Can’t decide if that dog is just ‘tolerating’ the cat though. :)
You are so welcome! Pretty, artistic arrangement! I like the lines of that curly branch and the plain white cylinder vase.
It might be surprising how many people around the world know that today is Elvis Presleys birthday. The enduring popularity of the singer from Mississippi spans generations and cultures. More than 30 years after his death, sales of Presleys music, memorabilia, and licensing agreements generate millions of dollars in annual income. Once dubbed The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis is often called simply, The King.
Whether the kings of this world are celebrities, athletes, crowned heads, or tycoons, they come and go. Their influence may be immense and their followers fanatically loyal, but it doesnt last forever.
The Bible, however, refers to Jesus Christ as the eternal King. Revelation 17 speaks prophetically of earthly kings who will fight to establish their authority at the end of the ages. Biblical scholars have debated the identities of these kings, but there is no mistake about the One they cannot overpower: These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful (Rev. 17:14).
The Empty Land
Sunrise over the western lands
scrub brush estates of pine and peaks
Where a drifting hawk silently seeks
prey in the red rock laid in bands
Tumbleweed littered fences there
outline mans boundaries rusting away
Grey wood cabins hinting at another day
and only history really seems to care
Faint trails pass over hills and disappear
like those who came before a time of our own
now but stark reminders, like the whitening bones
when life was paid for in coin most dear
Wind song sings of what has passed
truth as gossamer now as a spiders webbing lace
A ghostly echo of a yesterdays oft demanding pace
a history now firmly set as fate did cast
From the Mesa comes the soliloquy of a wolfs call
a lonely aching of a single life in a singular land
Set here amid russet and rusting sedimentary bands
where the weight of time and timelessness falls
Erosion carves an empty landscape anew
ever changing and yet somehow unchanged
An eons span leaves even spirits deranged
where forever does as it may be wont to do
The sun bakes the land, with a weighty hand
forcing life to fit a mold of survivals need
Here among the rustle of brittle tumbleweeds
and Cholla, Pinon, and the whisper of the sand
Night falls and the air cools, an answer to a prayer
Life comes out to scurry and hurry in the night
A strange world under the moons silvered light
And across the land ancient memories walk there
Under a star lit sky the distant storm rumbles on
and the flow of time is a sea of silence laid over all
Broken only by the lingering echo of the coyotes call
until the first subtle shading tints of the coming dawn
Do you know if/when there is a new American Idol starting? I missed the first couple of seasons, but have watched them all since. Once they get past the horrendous and ridiculous auditions and choose the contestants, I really enjoy the show.
Cute! Penguins always make me smile.
At any rate, next Tuesday 1-13 and Wednesday 1-14 begins the new season. Who knows though - they may show another diamond in the rough (like Taylor) whose audution will blow us away. :)
PENGUIN DANCE PENGUIN DANCE PENGUIN DANCE!!!!!
LOL! That's exactly the way those penguins made me - Amy, too! - feel! I had fun listening to/watching and choosing from several YouTube "Happy Feet" videos. :)
These guys below are saying, "Can't we catch a few ZZZZs without having a flash go off?"
Yes, let's hope. It's fun trying to pick the winner from the beginning line up. I had that Irish gal picked for the winner last season, but forgot to factor in "star quality". The longer the show went on, the more it became painfully obvious, she just didn't have it. Now I can't even remember who won. Last season wasn't the best, I don't think.
I'll be tuning in. Heck, I will even watch the auditions. There is not much else on TV this time of year. Although, the new season of "24" is starting this month. One of my all time favorite shows.
I didn’t watch the last two seasons very much. Seems like Season 5 was a hard act to follow; they had so many good ones: Taylor, Elliott Yamin, Daughtry (though I’m not a fan of his), Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington (both country cuties), Mandisa, and I guess I should mention Katharine McPhee, but I couldn’t stand her!
LOL! I thought there was something about that look in that big dog's eyes. :) We had a chow that had a favorite cat once, and when he napped, he would let the cat curl up on his furry neck and sleep.
Billie, speaking about horrendous and ridiculous auditions, I am sure you have seen this Audition - and Simon Cowell was in a ‘foul mood’. (I’m posting this for those who might have missed it:)
