Somewhere in the world right now a farmer is dropping seeds into the ground. Soon those seeds will begin to change the place where they were planted. The carefully prepared soil that appears barren today will become a field ready for harvest.
In the same way, New Years resolutions can be seeds to alter the landscape of life for others and ourselves. This prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi is a powerful model of this longing to bring positive change in a hurting world:
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.
A farmer who sows wheat is never surprised when wheat grows from the ground where it was planted. Thats the universal law of sowing and reaping. Paul used it to illustrate a corresponding spiritual principle: Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Gal. 6:7). Our sinful nature says, Satisfy yourself, while the Spirit urges us to please God (v.8).
Today is planting time. God has promised: In due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (v.9).
Wonderful devotion this morning..Thank you for starting my day off right, Mayor.
Morning Meg. : )
**I don’t know what puzzles is.**
Snort! That is too funny! You find the cutest graphics!
All of our animals have always been full of personality, but we always pick up on their expressions, etc. Or maybe they pick up on ours. LOL :)
Glad your weather is warming up! I keep thinking, spring will be here soon. :)
Wishing you a great day!
HUGS
Very funny! You set this up perfectly. It didn’t show the end on my page. :)
Sorry about your friend. :(
We don’t do many puzzles anymore either. No time, seems like. We had a hard time leaving them out—too small house/too many people and animals. We were always losing pieces. I got two huge pieces of plexiglass at Lowes. Ran magnetic tape around the outside edges of both pieces. We worked the puzzle on one sheet of plexiglass. When we were ready to put the puzzle up we just laid the other piece on top. Magnetic tape stuck together and we could slide the whole thing under the couch or a bed or something and not have to worry about pieces getting lost. :)
Wow, what a snow! Good pictures, Dolly! I love the one of Molly with those birds down in the background. Great pic! How old is your Molly? L. J. and NNBob and I talked about snow last night and I posted a couple of pictures (had been posted before) but L.J. hadn’t seen them!
We here in Bristol, would love to have one BIG snow before the season’s over. Weatherman says we will have about 6 inches this week...Mon.Tue.Wed....will wait and see. When I was growing up we had tremendous snows and we don’t anymore. I remember a snow that came up to my waist when I was young. Of course, I guess my waist was closer to the ground...LOL!
We have small snows and freezing rain and bitter temps. and maybe we can’t drive for a day....and thats it.
Good Morning Ya’ll! Happy TGIF!
Molly is about 8 — rescue from national park rangers, when I was doing surveying for the park. She never was near me or computer while Cali (THE BOSS) was living. All cats & both dogs gave her the right of way.
Yes I recall some snow in tri-city area when I was in grad school in Johnson City
The trek from Winston Salem thru mountains for the weekly 2 day & 2 night of classes was often white knuckle material
I saw your pix!
Snow is so pretty if we dont have the hassles of life in it or destruction.
Like my roof over kitchen partially gave in from snow weight - nice “stream” of water into kichen via attic - sigh
need to get busy LOTS going on here!
That was sure a heavy snow on your roof....sure is no fun when it interferes with daily living, etc.
There is something about the silence after a snow that is so beautiful. We are stopped in our tracks to listen to the silence and see the beauty. Be very careful when you are out! I bet your dogs absolutely love it because my dogs always loved it....I think all dogs do!
What a great heart gif, JC! (And the little dancing stick figure is SO appropriate for TGIF day!)
Hope you are feeling better, and looking forward to a relaxing weekend!
She was funny! Everything was—”Do it meself!”
She loved puzzles, refused to do anything less than 500 pieces, then less than a 1000 when she got a little older. It was amazing to watch her—she really had/has a knack with shapes and colors.
Her almost 2 year old son is just like her!
She had a sewing machine—the kind that does loop stitches—from the time she was 2 or 3. We used to get so tickled at her—she’d be asleeep with this ultra determined look on her face, trying to thread needles.
Have a great weekend yourself!
Thank you, yorkie, and a great Good Morning to you! Guess I will clean up the kitchen and get straightened out so I can get back on here some today!
Dolly, what memories your pictures bring to mind! When I was little, we had a four (plus) foot blizzard with heavy winds - (I think we were living in Mogadore at the time.) We couldn’t see out our windows, nor open our doors - as the snow completely covered our house.
Thank you for sharing with us. I often wonder how little birds survive such weather.
I hope you can get that kitchen ‘stream’ fixed real soon.
Molly probably wants to go outside and chase those birds. LOL! (If she got out, she would want to turn right back around and get back onto her warm space on the scanner!)
Thank you again, Mr. Mayor, for a lovely Daily Bread message on this Friday Morning. Have a blessed day!
