My husband sang it also. Hubby had a great voice....he sang a lot after his shower in the bathroom. Its a wonderful song.
Even Elvis and his group sang that song. Elvis loved gospel music. I have his gospel C.D.

Thank you for a very interesting and true Daily Bread devotion today, Mr. Mayor. We always need to be more humble.

I will come back later. Maybe. :( I'm having a very, very, very, very hard time with FR this morning. :(

I had #3007 deleted because it was a duplicate of #3006.

TODAY IS THOMAS CRAPPER DAY!

Thomas Crapper Day

January 27th each and every year is Thomas Crapper Day. Some information you find calls it "Toilet Day." It's a holiday devoted to the man who invented the flush toilet.

And we all should celebrate the toilet! Can you imagine life without it? It would be like camping in the woods your whole life.

As with many inventions, the flush toilet did not suddenly spring into existence, but was the result of a long chain of minor improvements. Therefore, instead of a single name and date, there's a long list of significant contributors to the history of the device but the most noted name is Thomas Crapper partly due to the name "crap" itself and also due to the holiday "Thomas Crapper Day."

1880's: Thomas Crapper's plumbing company built flush toilets of Giblin's design. After the company received a royal warrant, Crapper's name became synonymous with flush toilets. Although he was not the original inventor, Crapper popularized the siphon system for emptying the tank, replacing the earlier floating valve system which was prone to leaks. Some of Crapper's designs were made by Thomas Twyford. The similarity between Crapper's name and the much older word crap is merely a coincidence.

Definition of a flush toilet

"A flush toilet or Water Closet (WC) is a toilet that disposes of the waste by using water to flush it through a drainpipe to another location. Modern toilets incorporate an 'S' bend; this 'trap' creates a water seal which remains filled with water between flushing, thus providing a hygienic barrier by preventing sewer gases from passing up the drainpipe. During flushing the 'S' bend also provides siphon action which helps accelerate the flushing process. Water filling up the bowl creates a high pressure area which forces the water past the S bend. At the S bend when water starts to move it creates a vacuum that pulls the water and waste out of the toilet. When no more water is left then the air stops the siphon or vacuum process. At that point the water that is going into the bowl continues to fill up the bowl to equalize the bowl and the S bend. This ends the cycle of one flush. However, since this type of toilet does not generally handle waste on site, separate waste treatment systems must be built."

"How can I celebrate this holiday?"

Have a fun party of course and play toilet games!

Here's a few ideas to get you started.

Toilet Memory: We all know that all kinds of things get dropped in the toilet and we have to fish it out all the time right. Especially if you have kids. This game is based on that idea. Take one toilet and put it in the middle of the yard. The object of this game is to remember what you see floating in the toilet. Fill the toilet up with water..... drop 10 items in the toilet. some may sink to the bottom and some may float. Each person has so many seconds to reach in the toilet with their hands and slosh around in the water so they can see all the items in the toilet. Once everyone has had a turn. Everyone then writes down on a piece of paper what they remembered seeing in the toilet. The person who remember all 10 items is the winner.

Toilet Toss: Find yourself a nice toilet and put it in the middle of the yard. Divide your guests into teams and give everyone a small cup of water. Put a large bowl in the bottom of the toilet. The object of the game is to be the first team to fill up the bowl with the most water. You can do this by marking a place to stand about 8 feet from the toilet. Each person take turns in tossing a cup of water at the toilet and trying to ring the bowl and fill it up. After each person in each team has a turn, then you measure the amount of water collected and the team with the most water collected is the winning team. Each team member can be awarded with a frozen chocolate dipped banana rolled in peanuts. This banana treat should remind party goers of what else goes in a toilet!

Mummy Wrap: Everyone remembers the mummy wrap game that's popular at Halloween parties right?? You know where each team gets a pack of toilet paper and they have to wrap up a person with toilet paper while on a timer. The team who's has the most toilet paper on him/her and looks the most like a mummy is the winner. What do you win? A brand new unopened pack of toilet paper naturally.

Once the games are over..... Take those wonderful toilet pictures with your friends to remember the fun "Thomas Crapper, Toilet Day Holiday!"

I chose to declare this Taylor Hicks Day rather than Thomas Crapper Day - he's much more appealing. :)

Thank you, Polly. I think I just had too many windows open at once, and downloading Taylor’s new single from iTunes was also taking longer than usual. :)

Yes, he can sing that kind of music - and almost anything! I hope you go and download his new single "What's Right is Right" - it is so pretty!

Here's a cutie from him, too:

Happy Tuesday, Dolly.

Australia and New Zealand both sound inviting. I’m not sure about the snakes and large lizards, tho. :)

Hi Billie My daughter really enjoyed viewing your amazing sketches. My hubby did too. ;) I noticed she is attempting to sketch people more now. I have to look into art lessons. Did you ever take them? I can't tell you enough how we admire your talent. :) Yes, that's the back yard with the deer. I can hear them walking in the woods when I take the dog out at night. Sometimes we see them at the feeder.

Thank you, GeeBee. I did take a few lessons when I wanted to see if I'd like doing landscapes (I don't! :) but I've done a few)

I love seeing deer, and my sister lives in the Texas Hill Country, where they are plentiful!)

Marissa and her brother had a wonderful time. They have been missing each other.

With everyone being so busy and school, it is difficult to let them visit for more than an hour or so.

Which movie did you and Booboo see? I don't go to movies often but I took Marissa to see Wil E last summer and took her to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua before Christmas. She really enjoyed both and it was fun to see her excitement.

Wishing you and Booboo a Terrific Tuesday.
