Tomorrow morning I work, then at 1pm I am heading to downtown
Midland (same town I work in) to attend a Welcome Home Party
for President and Laura Bush. I will be there for the rest
of the afternoon.
I think it’s going go be a wonderful coming home event for
them. The only problem I foresee is the parking situation there!
I would like to see more wing on that owl, too, but it’s the rare Narrow Spaces Owl and that’s all the wing they have.
Luv, I used to live on the block of Andrew’s Hwy and Midkiff. I cried for three years after leaving Midland. It was like one big family - someone would start their charcoal in the grill - a neighbor would stick their head over the fence, and holler, “What’cha cookin’? We just got some beautiful T-Bones at the meat market!”
“Well, c’mon over! (And, bring the steaks!) We’ve got dogs, burgers and buns!”
Another neighbor, “We just bought a bushel of corn on the cob that was picked today - the wife is husking it right now.”
“Bring over a dozen or two ears, we’ll help her husk ‘em!”
Another neighbor, “OMG, do I smell charcoal? I made Granny’s baked beans this morning - stuck ‘em in the crock pot, and they’re just about ready!”
“Beans are NEEDED over here, gurl! And, bring the kids in their swimsuits - the whirly sprinkler is goin’!”
“Anybody wanna taste the fresh blackberry cobbler I just made today?”
“You gotta be kiddin’! And, could you bring some extra paper plates?”
And, ol’ Bob - he always pleased the guys - “I got a fridge in the garage, jammed full of ice cold BEER! Anybody want a couple?”
Then, a few doors down, Carol would hear the commotion - and bring a huge tossed salad in a bowl big as a tire.
And, of course, Anne made her special potato salad every weekend - with lots of hard boiled eggs, and then made some deviled eggs, too!
The wimmin would chatter and giggle, as they put it all together, the children would play in the sprinkler, sandbox or monkey-bars, and the men would sip cold beer and tell tales of past football games.
Laughter and jokes were always present, and if James brought his guitar, late into the evening, we would all sit around the grill, throw in some logs, and sing - under the stars.
I get teary-eyed talkin’ about Texas. Dang, I miss it! Have fun, Luvie! (And, say “Hi” to W, ok?)
Perps leaving trails of footprints happens more than you could imagine.
It's mind boggling for those of us with minds.

Sure sounds like a great fun life in Texas. I would have cried when leaving too. I felt like I was almost there for the big cookout! LOL~~~
Well, I really liked it!
JC, the ‘big cookout’ was every weekend - month after month, year after year. We were neighbors, friends, support - for each other.
Anna made me a german chocolate cake every year, (from scratch!) for my birthday. Carol’s daughter was my son’s first love, (at four years old), and Jean and Bob were the ‘mom and dad’ for all of us.
So many stories to remember - so much love and friendship shared. So many years have passed, and so many good memories.........
Hi Sistahs and Finest Friends. Our family is doing well but I have been deliberately staying away trying to get my life and house in order. But couldn’t help but stop in to FR on the evening of our dear president and first lady graciously leaving. God bless them...and I am so happy for the peaceful life they can expect.
I pray that our new president stays strong and does well...not with his agenda (which I hope he is a hopeless failure) but that he protects our country.
This has been an 8 year roller coaster ride for many of the early “Finest” members and I have spend much of the evening reflecting. Just wanted to send my love. God bless all of you.

P.S. Giz is still an ornary paralized little 16 year old pup, a spoiled rotton little guy who lives to eat and get attention ... Susie is the perfect “mini-me” of Rusty. Loves and doggie bones from them too! :0)

Be happy to. I use Nova Development's PhotoImpactPro Version 13 (their latest). I would still be using Version 10 if it had been compatible with Vista. It wouldn't - there were so many of my programs that wouldn't install on Vista! So I bought Version 11, and even with that one, I had to download a "patch" from their website - the patch itself took hours for me to download because it was huge in bytes. Even then, it NEVER worked the way it should, but at least I could install it.
But that's all a different story - since then my XP machine started working again, and I've quit even turning on the Vista pc. I didn't put PI Pro Version 11 on my XP machine because it was virtually the same as Version 10, which I loved!
Last year they came out with Version 13, and I upgraded to that. It has a few new features.
I love this software, LJ - it has virtually all the bells and whistles I could ask for - all for I think around $100 - WAY less than Adobe PhotoShop! I tried PS on a friend's computer a few times - didn't like it - too difficult to get around in.
I have downloaded dozens of plugins and masks and other goodies to the software, but even without all the extras I've added over time, it's a great photo editing program in my opinion. :)
Let me know if you decide to try it - I think you would like it.

Chow down and come sit by the fireside and share some poems, laughter, and any recipes you have for crockpots.
If you were invited to a meeting at the White House with the President of the United States, regardless of your opinion of him or her, you would probably go. Upon entering the White House, a protocol officer would meet you and outline the proper procedures for meeting the President. Suffice it to say, it would be unacceptable to let loose with a burst of undignified familiarity or negative criticism as you shook hands.
So it should come as no surprise that God’s Word makes it clear that there is a protocol for entering the presence of God. Hebrews 11:6 outlines one aspect of appropriate interaction: “He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” God wants us to be fully devoted to Him—and He takes it personally when our hearts are filled with criticism, unbelief, and doubt.
James tells us that when we ask God for wisdom, the key to His response is whether or not we are asking “in faith” (1:6). God is pleased when we approach Him with unwavering faith.
So leave your doubt at the door and follow the protocol: Approach God with a heart of faith, and He will be pleased to provide all the wisdom you need.
