Good afternoon/morning, Fish Hawk! :)

Living in the country, we love owls.
I bought two owl houses but so far have found no one to put them on poles.
It seems like every vineyard and orchard in our area has at least one owl house.
Gophers, ground squirrels, rabbits and mice can be very distructive.

Hope you are enjoying Edgar Allan Poe day.
I'm celebrating Tin Can Day. I opened a can of soup for lunch. :)

If the Owl Calls Again

at dusk from the island in the river, and it's not too cold, I'll wait for the moon to rise, then take wing and glide to meet him. We will not speak, but hooded against the frost soar above the alder flats, searching with tawny eyes. And then we'll sit in the shadowy spruce and pick the bones of careless mice, while the long moon drifts toward Asia and the river mutters in its icy bed. And when the morning climbs the limbs we'll part without a sound, fulfilled, floating homeward as the cold world awakens. John Haines

How beautiful, Billie..and the poem is perfect..Thank you! I am getting spoiled with these sunny mild days. It is very windy, though.

Thanks, Meg. I enjoyed doing that one - the owl and that tree were just so striking together, I wanted to put that tree bark everywhere! :)

I get so very tired of the wind, and the tumbleweeds from others' open fields that are never mowed that attach themselves to every fence we have. North, South, East and West - whichever direction the wind is coming from, they come tumbling in and latch on to 'that' fence until we can free them to go on their way. We don't grow them, and they're not staying here long. :(
