I sure hate 123 stopped...it was a good site. I only did it a couple of times but 123 helped me more than any. Others were sorta boring, I thought.

Did you mean use 2008 from 123 or another site.

I have another site that had posted the entire 123 calendar for 2008. I may just pick and choose holidays from it.

I like to have fun days to celebrate.

Lori, I have been away from the computer most of the afternoon and evening - but do want to add this: I am noticing that most of the females on the news channels are dressing like ‘you-know-whats’ to report the news lately. Excessive makeup, low cut blouses, mini skirts, tons of jewelry, hair extensions, spike-heeled boots that go above the knee, satins and bright colors. What gives with that?

I personally wrote to a newscaster, telling her how refreshing it was to see a news reporter dress and talk with class. I never heard back from her (that was three months ago), and yesterday, I saw her on TV and saw that she had joined the ranks of newscasting Sl_t-dome.

Things have definitely changed, haven’t they? I don’t think they have changed for the better, but then, at my age, what do I know? LOL.

I feel like an old granny - when I tell my friends, “Just look at that hussy! Why, my grandma would roll over in her grave to see trash on tv like that!” LOL

And, one more thing: Am I the only one noticing that the commercials now last for ten minutes or more?

Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

January 11, 2009
That’s Awesome!
Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. —Psalm 66:5
The word awesome is tossed around a lot these days. Talk about cars, movies, songs, or food—and somebody will say, “That’s awesome!”

But if we call earth-side stuff awesome and then call God awesome, we diminish how truly awesome He is. A friend of mine has a rule in her house—the word awesome is reserved only for God.

Trivializing God is no trivial matter. He is far more than a companion who will fit into our “buddy system” or a divine ATM responding to our impulses. Until we are stunned by the awesomeness of God, we will be way too impressed with ourselves and lose the joy of the privilege of belonging to an awesome God.

A look at the Psalms puts it all in perspective. One psalmist declares, “For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth” (Ps. 47:2). And another psalm commands: “Say to God, ‘How awesome are Your works!’ . . . Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men” (Ps. 66:3,5).

What could be more awesome than the love that compelled Jesus to go to the cross for us? Put Him in His proper place as the only One who is truly awesome, and praise God for His awesome work in your life!

Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be. —Heber

If you’re too impressed with yourself, take a closer look at God’s awesomeness.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

Amazing Grace

by John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, .
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

Dear God, who suffered
torment, agony and death upon the Cross
to free our souls from the chains of iniquity;
protect and defend our troops.
Guide them in the performance of
their Duties.
Strengthen them to endure hardship,
danger, and deprivation in
Your service.
Let their efforts free the people
of Iraq from the chains of terror
and slavery, foster a lasting peace
in the region, and bring all to a
greater share in Your mercy.
Amen.
