I need the help of ALL FReepers to make a decision
Self | 12-29-2008 | Rosanna Pulido

Posted on 12/29/2008 2:10:54 PM PST by chicagolady

I was born and raised in Chicago and have resided on the northside ..most of the time in the Illinois 5th Congresional district.

Rod Blagojevich and Rahm Emmanuel have BOTH been my congressmen.

Now because Rahm has announced that he is leaving and a special election will take place, I am considering throwing my name in for the special election. After all I reside here! Many of the Life-long Politicians who want the seat are just that, Life long politicians looking for another job.

So I am asking FReepers far and wide to put on their think caps and help me out. Give me some sound advice about what I should be considering.

For those of you on Freerepublic who do not know me, you can easily google my name and read up on what I have been involved in.

In 2000 I became an Election Volunteer coordinator for the National Rifle Association to help get out the vote. I did that along with promoting gun rights through the present day.

In the summer I organized a class for women who never shot a gun before. It was a hugh success and a lot of fun. I participated in IGOLD which was for Illinois Gun Owners who wanted to go down to Springfield and Lobby our General assembly. So all this to say I am a very active person politically. Many of you are aware of Chicago's murder rate and war on Gun Owners.

I was one of the "Original Minutemen". I served 3 tours of duty on the Arizona/Mexico border. I continue to lobby in Illinois for Enforcement of Immigration laws on the books. Curbing illegal immigration has been my passion.

The Chicago Media is Pro-Amnesty so you can imagine their SPIN on the subject and their Promotion of illegal aliens at every turn.

I have testified in Washington DC about illegal immigration destroying Illinois. The Illinois Taxpayers spend 3.5 BILLION dollars a year on services for Illegal aliens and we have the first SANCTUARY COUNTY in the NATION! COOK COUNTY>

Rahm Emmanuel was a great friend and promoter of illegal immigration.

I can only do what I can do, but I beleive you act and see what happens. MAYBE Folks in the Illinois 5th Congressional district have had enoungh of all this corruption. I am ready to bank on that.

I would need someone who could throw up a website and possibly help me do a you-tube..technology is important.

OK FREEPERS far and wide, Help me out and give me your best thoughts. Thanks In Advance!!

P.S. My "other" passion is Senior Citizen advocacy.

They fought for this country and built this country and past it off to us, hoping we will be good stewards.

I know I do not have all the answers, but then neither does Caroline! We both are about the same age.

tough row to hoe in Chicago, Cook County...

Flanagan made it as a Repub after Rostenkowski got caught with his shenanigans.

Find out what Flanagan did and try to modify it for your needs.

The 5th takes in a lot of Hispanics areas - grass root those areas to death. in fact, make your headquarters in one of those towns (Schiller Park, Franklin Park etc )

Whoever the Rats nominate, I'd tie ‘em directly to Rahm and Blago - Like Obama did with Pres. Bush to McCain.

Have your birth certificate handy.

Should be fun.

You misread...Rosanna is saying that Rahm Emmanuel is a great friend of illegal immigrants, not her great friend.

Thanks for pointing that out to me but I must admit that I had to read that statement again a few times in order to get the gist of the statement.

It should have been worded differently. I take back my criticism of her.

your Rush/CNN video was good

sounds like it is going to be an interesting race...

Emanuel, in Africa on a long planned vacation with his family, sent out the official news of his departure from the 5th congressional district seat in a robo call to his constitutients on Monday and a resignation letter to Gov. Blagojevich. Though the seat will be vacant with the new Congress is sworn in on Jan. 6, House rules allow the congressional offices in Chicago and Washington to remain open and staffed to assist any ongoing casework. A special election will be held to fill the seat, with the date to be set now that Emanuel's departure date will be established. Emanuel must decide what to do with the $1,782,189 million in his campaign warchest, of which about $400,000 is a loan he made to his campaign.

" I also want you to know, it has been a privilege and an honor to serve as your Representative for the last six years. Thank you for the opportunity and thank you for your confidence," Emanuel said in his taped call.

Eleven people have already filed papers with the Federal Election Commission declaring they are possible candidates:

Alexander Victor Forys
Mike Quigley, Cook County Board Member
Charles J. Wheelan
Sara Feigenholtz, State Representative
Reichel Matthew
Joey Vartanian
Israel Vasquez
Justin Oberman, former Transportation Safety Administration official Cary Capparelli, son of former State Representative
Debra Mell, incoming State Representative, daughter of Ald. Dick Mell who is not going to pursue the seat
Jan H. Donatelli

Nope, it’s a new day. People will be looking for someone with great new ideas who is NOT corrupt.

Go for it.

If you lose, so what. You had the experience of trying, of running.

It is so easy to do nothing.

snort. snicker....

In Chicago? Are you serious?

Actualy, I would argue that people are looking for empty promises of Hope and Change from a Manchurian Candidate who has been bought and paid for by muslim money.

Because - as you well know - we just elected one of those types as President.

I think she meant that Emanuel was a friend of illegal immigration.

I hope that you’ll run. If you do, I’ll give you a donation and try to persuade other members of the Illinois Center Right Coalition to endorse you. If you lose, please move to Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, or Rolling Meadows, so that, in 2012, you could run against St. Sen. Dan Kotowski, a liberal Democrat, who barely won, in a seat that was represented by St. Sen. Dave Sullivan for about 10 years.

Please run! We need strong conservatives like you to step up and run. I’m planning on doing the same here in VA.

Run, tell them that you want to honestly get elected. That's might be a good campaign slogan.

"Honestly, I want to be your congressman"

Given the filthbags that your district has recently sent to DC it sounds like it's a Barney Frank kind of district.Sounds like that anyone to the right of Joseph Stalin would have a prayer there.

Sorry to rain on your parade but one must always accept reality.
