LEBANON PA--Some people have called Meleanie Hain a courageous defender of the Second Amendment. Others have referred to her in online forums as an "idiot" for taking her gun to her 5-year-old daughter's soccer game in Lebanon in September. Hain said she is "just a mom who happens to carry a gun ... everywhere."
This is my weapon and this is my gun.......
:)
Mind your own non-Pennsylvanian business.
“I’m all for it if the local deputy dogs would let you. They normally don’t. “
Was watching one of those Fox reality shows where they were busting some guy who was carrying openly. He cooperated fully but they managed to make him look like an idiot.
Then they grudgingly admitted that he was not breaking the law.
You've obviously not been following this story. She's carrying open because they denied her permit renewal.
I've got a reason to carry openly , too. It's just not legal here, yet.

This little girl was one of my MIL’s neighbors. NO ONE was armed at that game, or Morgan might still be with her family. They do not know if she is alive or dead, or where her body is.
This is one thing I'm MORE than willing to do “For the Children!”
Quote from the link: "The sheriff revoked Hain's gun permit after she carried her gun to her 5-year-old daughter's soccer game."
While I am a proponent of open carry, this is the nonsense it leads to.
You are a “proponent” of that which leads to “nonsense”?
(If more people did this, then the morons who it bothered might learn something.)
The "nonsense" is the fact this is even in the news. I am a proponent of open carry, but the local sheriff does not agree with me. Until I can elect a sheriff that does agree with me, I am bound by my CCW permit issue by him, which states I can only carry a pistol concealed, better? (did not mean to be confusing)
Since her sheriff revoked her permit, which mine can too if he wants, I assume she was also supposed to be carrying concealed.
As with most news stories these days, it does not report all the facts, just the ones that get the headlines.
Let me also say, it is a royal pain to have to carry concealed. Her holster is MUCH more comfortable. I have to use several different ways depending on how I dress.
Okay — now find an image of carrying “while making love”.
On second thought, no. Don’t.
Is this the little girl whose Mom had a Missing Children Organization in her home after Morgan went missing, and HGTV or some TV show rebuilt her house?
Because her Mom didn’t want to leave the area, in case the child came back, and wouldn’t know where Mom had moved?
My family lives in Ft. Smith and we had gone out there for a visit. We were headed out to eat at a catfish place outside Alma several years ago and my niece drove me by the house.
Beautiful house!
But, sad...sad.
Everyone of us should carry open when they can. The more people see our guns, the faster we can return to the days where gun ownership was thought of in the public mind as normal.
I have liberals who live close by, right on the verge of purchasing guns.
Show them your stuff.

Here is a link to a website that is a treasure of information on open carry. Enjoy.
In Virginia anyone who can own a handgun can carry it openly.
marktwain replies: The sheriff acted improperly, and Melanie Hain had her permit restored by a judge. You can read more at the following link:
In Virginia, you can actually carry a gun open in places you can’t carry a gun concealed - for instance, you can carry a gun open in a bar, but can be arrested if caught carrying it concealed
No, it doesn’t make sense to me
Good site. Thanks.
>>The “nonsense” is the fact this is even in the news.
You could have said the same thing about Rosa Parks riding in the front of the bus. I don’t let hand-wringing journalists dictate my principles.
>>I am a proponent of open carry, but the local sheriff does not agree with me. Until I can elect a sheriff that does agree with me, I am bound by my CCW permit issue by him, which states I can only carry a pistol concealed, better?
Huh? Your Sheriff writes the laws where you live?
>>Since her sheriff revoked her permit, which mine can too if he wants, I assume she was also supposed to be carrying concealed.
Her (illegally revoked) permit would apply only to the ability to carry concealed. there is no open carry permit in any state in the union that I’m aware of.
No, it doesnt make sense to me
marktwain replies:
A great many of the gun laws, and the drug laws, do not make sense because they are based on false premises.
Most of the gun laws are based on the premise that if there are less guns in the hands of citizens, there will be less crime. That premise has long ago been shown to be false, but liberals refuse to let go of it.
I believe that most of them think of the State as their god, and to believe that it could be corrupt, incompetent, dangerous, or should be limited in any way, makes them feel very uncomfortable.
marktwain replies:
No open carry permits as such, perhaps. But there are a number of states where carrying openly is severely limited unless one has a permit. Minnesota is one. There permit is a permit to carry a handgun, and covers both open and concealed carry.
This site has a wealth of information about open carry. Enjoy:
In MO, open carry is theoretically legal. Best to have CC though because that prevents any harassment, I’m just sayin.
