As Nazareths Christians prepare to celebrate Christmas, they are playing down the appearance of a confrontational Islamic banner that challenges an elemental Christian belief.
Journalists visiting the city saw two large banners--one in English, one in Arabic--hanging in the plaza in front of the Basilica of the Annunciation, with a verse from the Koran (112:1-4) contradicting the New Testament proclamation that Jesus is the only begotten of God.
In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful, Say (O Muhammad): He is Allah, (the) One and Only. Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute. He begetteth not, nor was begotten, and there is none like unto him, the banner reads.
Nazareth Mayor Ramiz Jaraisy played down concerns that a banner effectively denying Jesus deity was provocative to Christians, although he did question its position, in front of Nazareths most prominent landmark.
I dont think that its provocative against anyone, he said. My point of view [is] that its not the right place to put it and its not the right way to do that.
But Jaraisy said he would not remove the banner because some Islamic fundamentalist groups were looking to provoke a confrontation in order to promote their cause. He did not want to provide them with that opportunity.

Why don’t they get past there fears and simply follow their desires by converting to Christianity?
The Devil has no son, but he has a great many followers.
“In the name of Allah, The Inexorable, The Irresistible...”
I CAN HAS BAKON CHEEZBURGER?
Words written several hundred years after the compilation of God inspired writings called the bible.
Oh, by the way, to all mussies,
Revelation 22:18, For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book;
1Jo 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jo 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [(but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also].
If we realize that the deity “Allah” = the ancient deity “Ba’al”, it makes no difference whether that deity has a son or not.
Allah is the most powerful of the Sand Jiins. If Allah did have a son, he’d have 666 on his head.
After helping my daughter with her logical translations in geometry, I instantly translated the “Allah has no son” phrase differently.
If Allah has no son,
and Jesus is the son of God,
then Allah isn’t God.
But we already knew that, didn’t we.
Exactly!!!
I was about to say the same truthful statement.
Remember those Star Trek or Stargate episodes where an alien being would pretend to be a god to stroke his own ego? That’s what that sign made me think of.
I would add a little sign next to it: “Because he is a raging homosexual.” That ought to stir some cheer.
I thought he was a child molester.
All those virgins and not one son? Hmmmm.....
And Bush told a reporter that the God he prays to is the same god Muzzies pray to.
What else should we expect from these pretenders, squatting on the Temple Mount like a bunch of cowbirds?
I agree completely, Anyone who believes Allah is the Judeo/Christian God is an idiot.
Allah is satan, Islam is the greatest ruse of Satan, convincing some men that he is God.
This is the danger and evil of Islam, not all muslims are evil people, in fact the vast majority are not, but Islam being satan’s religion can get the most moral person to do the most heinous and immoral acts and justify it as being Holy.
Allah is Satan, just because muslims march around a rock once a year throwing stones at it to symbolize rejection of Satan, does not mean the religion is not a manifestation of his will.
I’m waiting for the news reports of Christians in Nazareth and around the world rioting and burning buildings in response to this obvious affront to our Saviour. Oh wait ... Christians respond with love and will pray for them instead. Guess that doesn’t play well in the media.
