As per the request of many, here's a holiday gathering place for FReeper dog lovers...grab some hot cider, have a seat in front of the fire with your faithful companion curled up at your feet and tell your dog stories here, share your pics, and enjoy!
This is a friendly gathering, and is NOT the place to bash pit bulls, argue about whether dogs were created or evolved, etc. Those that can't keep a muzzle on it will end up in the doghouse.
Although this is primarily for members of the FReeper Doggie Ping List, non-members who happen to stray in will be welcome and are also invited to post pics of your iguanas, ferrets, exotic fish or whatever other furred, feathered or finned companions you'd care to share with us.
As some of you know, I've been working back in the northeast for a few months and found some time in my schedule to make a pilgrammage to New Skete Monastery on Saturday morning. I'll look forward to all the pics and pet stories tomorrow evening when I get back!
Enjoy!!
I had to do it this way as I haven’t figured out the others.
Anyway, he’s my boy...
Falcos reaction when I told him that he could no longer sleep in my bed.

In 6 short months, Falco has quickly become my guardian angel.
He has helped me to recover from heart surgery and a stroke.
He is with me 24/7. He makes me laugh every single day.
He is the most lovable and attentive dog I have ever had the privilege to live with.
I would like to train him in protection work as well as many other things. He will be my fishing buddy and hang out with me on my boat. Mostly, I just want him to be a happy dog.
I think hes funny looking right now and I hope he will eventually grow in to those monster ears before folks start calling him Obama. ;>)
LOL!!!!!!!!!! He is SOOOOOO handsome!!! He'll grow out of his 0 ears...trust me. :) :)

Just copy and paste the above. But, remove the space after the first bracket < and img
i.e...this...< img src= to this <img src= then preview.
To learn this and lots more, you can either search FR for HTML bootcamp or google hmtl cheatsheet.
Good luck.
That is so cool, and you look very happy.
Thank you. I have never bothered to learn this stuff, it looks like I might have fun with it.
Beauty everywhere.
A few months ago I had read everything there is on their web page and became convinced that I want to go there someday. When I ordered all of their books I made a point to call them and thank them for their wonderful approach.
It sure looks like you picked a beautiful time of year to go their.
we got chanel as a present for Lucius just 2 years ago this weekend, and he HATED her at first. he had been an only dog for 3 years and could not imagine why we thought he wanted this other dog to share with! they became fast friends eventually and they sleep in a little dog pile together every night. so yeah, i would think your doggy would be bent out of shape for a while, no doubt about it!
Wonderful story there Joe. What a beautiful place and cute doggies!
Sniff.. (where was the tissue alert? ;-)
That was new thread material. Awesome story - thanks..
Thanks for that lovely story! What a special trip, it brought a tear to my eyes. Did you place your order for another pup?
Please add me to the doggie ping list. Thx.
Thank you for sharing this tender report and all the wonderful pictures. I’ve read the books about New Skete and I’ve long been in awe of people who can train a dog — a group of dogs — to lie in a down stay while others are dingin! My Golden is a constant prescence at the table and gets more than his share of treats, I must confess. My husband and I don’t mind it, but it is annoying to visitors.
What a marvelous experience for you. I thought that I’d read that the Monks were taking no more orders for dogs because they were overwhelmed with interest. Not true?
You don’t know what a lift you have given to my day....Thanks again.
I still remember fondly Jake the Corgi chasing the croquet balls at your FReeper picnic in Mauston. That was a long time ago, a fun party, and I’m glad to hear that you are still enjoying Jake’s company. Darling dog!
I saw WIladyconservative last fall, and,
sadly, her Corgi has passed on.
Masterful writing and pics - the picture of the monastary covered with snow looks like a Christmas card the experience was incredibly spiritual and one that you’ll never forget!
What do you mean — “funny looking”? Falco is GORGEOUS! He is one special dog, as I’m sure you already know.
He's really a pussycat but he does like his bite work!
Be sure to check out the summary of my day yesterday at #245 :-)
