As per the request of many, here's a holiday gathering place for FReeper dog lovers...grab some hot cider, have a seat in front of the fire with your faithful companion curled up at your feet and tell your dog stories here, share your pics, and enjoy!
This is a friendly gathering, and is NOT the place to bash pit bulls, argue about whether dogs were created or evolved, etc. Those that can't keep a muzzle on it will end up in the doghouse.
Although this is primarily for members of the FReeper Doggie Ping List, non-members who happen to stray in will be welcome and are also invited to post pics of your iguanas, ferrets, exotic fish or whatever other furred, feathered or finned companions you'd care to share with us.
As some of you know, I've been working back in the northeast for a few months and found some time in my schedule to make a pilgrammage to New Skete Monastery on Saturday morning. I'll look forward to all the pics and pet stories tomorrow evening when I get back!
Enjoy!!
Sparky was beautiful
Zeus lounging on the deck. Half mutt & half mongrel. Best dang dog I ever had. Pic doesn't show he's 65 pounds, but does show his gentleness. An 8-year-old pup. :-)
***People spelled backward is elpoep.***
Right! But, if you use the short form Peep spelled backwards is Peep. (Guess it’s just not the night to make sense.) LOL
Yep....I tuned in to “Terra TV”. I liked the music to the first video much better...it seems to better reflect her personality.
When do we get to see the debut pics of Falco?
My current hounds. Solitare on the left, Black Jack (Jackie)on the right.
She takes my breath away, joe.
I love these Belgians so much, no matter what the coat type. The Groenendahls are also beautiful! And there aren’t enough of the Laekenois around to suit me.
How old is Ranger?
Handsome boy..Location looks like a slice of heaven.
Looking forward to the photo’s.
Sounds like interesting treats.
I see such intelligence in Zeus’s eyes. And, look at the wonderful coloring on his forehead.
He is one very handsome dog, with a nice relaxed little tongue action going on there!
yes - Dory is a cardi. A very mischevious cardi... ;-)
Starky was a pembroke with lots of hair!
We're now kind of like two legs of a three-legged stool.
Mutts are wonderful.
I think they are grateful to be given a chance.
Zeus does look like a gentle soul.
I’m sharing my recliner with 70 lbs of Lab mix right now.
Are we not truly blessed with these wonderful dogs?
I must admit, I am not sure mine would put up with being decorated for Christmas. Your companion must be a very patient soul!
Love the coat and the coloring...
Well, it has been an interesting experience. He still basically inhabits either one of the two couches in the family room only rarely getting down on the floor, and then it's pretty much right back onto the couch. He often barks when we leave the room or the house (abandonment issues). He will not leave one of the couches to follow me around the house. He will follow my other bichon out the door onto the deck to do his business and will follow him back in then get back on his couch. Once only, I have seen him playing with the other dog.
He will run into my bedroom and sleep beside my bed on a doggy bed if I pick him up and get him started toward the room. We still have to feed him in a room by himself with the door closed because he is too scared to eat with anyone around him. He occasionally snaps if we make sudden moves around him, and he is still sometimes scared of Mr. Adler. If I approach him on his couch, he will come slowly to me, then crane his head away and start to back off. He is still so scared of everything.
I am glad I rescued him, and we are resigned to probably having an impaired dog for as long as he lives. My other bichon was also a shelter dog but had been given up to the shelter as a young dog, and he is perfectly normal and really a wonderful dog. I will get only shelter animals from now on.
Recently got a shelter kitten who has turned into a swell pet and gets along fine with the dogs.
To find a shelter pet, go to petfinder.org. Shelters all over the country put their adoptible pets on that website. It is great!
LOL....the look on your dog’s face is absolutely priceless!
Time to rescue another foundling , Joe.
Another beautiful Shepherd! And look at that happy smile!
Somehow, I think we Freepers must have the best luck in the world when it comes to being chosen by the dogs that love us.
That's a great picture!
