"It wouldn't be Christmas without 'A Christmas Story,' the 1983 movie that became an instant holiday classic thanks to its winning cast and quotable scenes. Here's a then-and-now look at the gang from fictional Hohman, Indiana, who brought the 'original, traditional, one-hundred-percent, red-blooded, two-fisted, all-American Christmas' tale to life."

You’re welcome! :-)
After all the gloom and doom of the past few months, I thought we needed a little levity around here, and who doesn’t love “A Christmas Story”?! :-)
Great call! It hasn’t been the happiest of places since... well since... well anyway for a really long time now.
“A Christmas Story” is a good one!
The director of “A Christmas Story” and his son were killed by a drunk illegal last year. Another sad “open border” story.

“wowzer....that Ralphie grew up to be quite the hunk!”
Am I mistaken, or is it a fact that he’s a homosexual? Not that it matters, but HE brought it up in some kind of an interview a few years ago.
My sole claim to fame.
Oh, and did I mention that I once cooked ribs for Johnny Cash...?
I visited the Christmas Story House while in Cleveland. It was fun!
The “story” continued about 11 years later with “It Runs in
The Family”, later retitled “My Summer Story”. Everyone in the cast is different except for the woman who played the
teacher, Miss Shields. It’s not bad, in that it shows some
of the stories that turned up in Shepherd’s collections
(and he narrates again): the “war” over the hillbillies next door, the Bumpuses; the debacle of “Ronald Coleman Gravy
Boat Night” at the cinema; Ralphie’s fishing trip with
the old man, etc. (The boring Charles Grodin, sadly,
plays _him_, this time around)

Scott Schwartz (Flick), who is now 40, appeared in a handful of porno films between 1990 and 2000. I saw the “E! True Hollywood Story” about him one time. He appeared in non-sex roles in all but one film. His one sex role performance was so bad that he couldn’t get himself to ever try it again. He is now back to doing mainstream films.
Hey, he was young and needed the work!
Meh. I’ve never liked “Wonderful”. I always preferred the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol.
The absolute best version of A Christmas Carol ever filmed was the one with Alistaire Sim as Ebeneezer Scrooge, IMHO.
Indeed. Right now I'm reading the book the movie is based on: "In God We Trust--All Others Pay Cash."
Shep was a terrific storyteller. His radio show on WOR during the '60s and '70s was great listening.
I like the 1938 Reginald Owen version of “A Christmas Carol” better than the 1951 Alistair Sim version (although the latter is good also). And the 1984 George C. Scott version is excellent too!
My favorite all-time Christmas movie is “The Bishop’s Wife” (1947), with Cary Grant, David Niven, and Loretta Young. (Great supporting cast, too: Monty Wooley, James Gleason, Gladys Cooper, Elsa Lanchester, among others.) We watch “The Bishop’s Wife” every year.
It’s max theater count was 938 (remember this was the early 80s, they didn’t do wide releases like now) there’s simply no way distribution cost was 5 million with less than 1000 prints.
It was the 39th highest grossing movie of 1983, not Star Wars but not a bomb.
Your estimates are based on bad assumptions, lots of 21st century math.
The real surprise is that "Scut Farkus" isn't a bad looking dude.
Scott was the best scrooge ever.
