But hey..it's your baloney...so you are entitled to sling it around.
LOL!!
How is it baloney? They aren’t the best team in their division. That was settled head to head in October. A string of games where they ran up the score doesn’t change that.
Now how can Tech be irrelevant but also be a top 15 opponent? You can’t count them as a top 15 who beat Texas, then say they don’t matter. Tech won, we beat Texas and that last second touchdown beat you out of the national championship game - you are just going to have to accept it.
Well said
“We all know who really won it on the field, right?”
Texas Tech?
I knew I could draw you out.
;-)
This BCS Champ has all the makings of 1995 all over again for OU, except OU is UF in 1995. That year we came in with a high flying offense crowing about 6 45+ point games and routinely beating rivals by 4 touchdowns. We were unstoppable, never mind our defense was suspect, we tagged 60 a few times on some folks and that was ok by us. We swaggered into that game cocky and full of ourselves against a balanced team like Nebraska. We thought, heck our QB Wuerfell can sling it around the field at will. Well the famous line I hear all the time still to this day is ..”Hey can you hear that Tommy Frazier just scored again”. Defense means everyhting and poo-pooing it you do at your own peril. Wuerfell got hounded all day by the Blackshirts and we ran Troy Smith around like a scared rabbit 2 years ago. Keys to winning a championship are solid line play, running game, capable secondary, special teams and depth. I think we got OU on 3 of those 1 I will concede to OU and 1 is a push. Being the contrarian I like the game close like 24-17 going into the forth and the Gators big game experience, depth and conditioning do what they have done 11 times this year..wear them down. Gators win in a walk 45-24.
Think about it this way... of all three of those teams, who do you most think would look forward to a rematch of all of the games? It may be Texas, it might be Oklahoma, but it sure the heck ain't Tech.
Tech won in front of a hysterical home crowd in the biggest night game ever in Lubbock in a game that McCoy brought UT back on his shoulders only to see it fall apart after a dropped interception and an amazing last second play. OU blew Tech out at home in Norman. UT beat OU into 4th quarter submission by 10 points in front of a 50/50 crowd in Dallas. If you've never been to that game in the Cotton Bowl, you have no idea of the atmosphere and pressure of that game.
If UT and OU play 10 games, would likely go 5 and 5 or maybe 6 and 4 one way or the other. Tech plays UT or OU 10 times, they're lucky to pull off 1 or 2 wins if they were at home. They nearly got beat at home by Baylor and Nebraska for crying out loud. They got lucky.
Not complaining, it is what it is. Just tired of the OU fans acting like they got the best of UT this year, while it's quite the opposite. OU got lucky, any other conference with divisions (all 4 of them) would have sent UT to the CCG based on their tiebreakers.
Good luck OU, I hope you have the same success in your BCS games as you have in the last few attempts. Go Big Game Bob!! /sarc
I agree with everything you say. ;-)
Hook ‘em Horns!
>>Hysterical home crowd? Why is it ok for ut to win at home, or ou never to lose at home, but if Tech does then it is a hysterical home crowd? Sheesh - you lost, get over it.>>
It was a hysterical home crowd. I don’t see how Tech could possibly be proud of them storming the field...they could have cost Tech the game. There were students hurt. One of them (a Tech student) is the daughter of a good friend of mine. She ended up having to have knee surgery. At this point, she thinks the crowd was hysterical. If it had been your daughter who got hurt, I’m sure you would, too.
Y’all won that one, yes. We lost. No question. So, I’ll say touche and good luck at the Cotton Bowl.
I am sorry this girl was injured, but the student section is rowdy on any given day, so to blame the students, and adults by the way, because some of those excited and wanting to congratulate their team were adults, for her injury is unwarranted. Blame the person who ran into her, not the entire crowd. I don't blame all ut fans for the whining and moaning of a few.
As I said...touche....good luck in the Cotton Bowl.
I agree. We proved in the SEC Championship game, that if we can’t win with speed and finesse, that we can win by playing smash mouth football.
I don’t think the OU-UF game will be nearly as high scoring as people expect, the winner probably doesn’t get into the 40s. UF will definately be the best defense OU has faced, and OU, probably next to Bama and Ole Miss, will be the best defense UF has faced.
I have that game on tape. Actually I have the 2002 Michigan game plus the Miami game on the same tape. I’ve watched it a zillion times.
Hey I say that if the Gators can hold Oklahoma to under 60 points they have a pretty good shot. I was thinking if this years Oklahoma team played last years Florida team the over/under might be around 100 points. LOL!
Texas Girl,
You know I don’t disagree with you much. But, why would you choose to argue the point about whether the crowd in Lubbock was “hysterical”? Of course they were. Why wouldn’t they be? They had just won the biggest game in TT history?
It doesn’t diminish the victory to say the crowd was a part of it. They were. And, had that game been played in Austin, the UT crowd would have been a part of it... probably, enough to change the score by 14 points.
Our point is just this... Losing ON THE ROAD, on a 4th consecutive week as the GAME OF THE WEEK, before a “boisterous” (if not, hysterical) crowd in Lubbock was LESS of a loss than a mid-season game before a neutral crowd at the Cotton Bowl.
But... whatever... College football is DEAD to ME until they get a playoff.
Oh I see so the BCS is too arbitrary, we should pick based on “who do you most think would look forward to a rematch of all of the games?”
Face it Texas Tech, OU, and Texas all have a legit claim to the B-12 title and its their conference that has screwed this up by using a poll as the tie breaker..
Thanks, that was exactly my point. The tiebreaker systems of each of the other 4 conferences that have divisions would have sent UT to the CCG. The Big 12 screwed up and the wrong team went.
