TAMPA, FL -- A malnourished pitbull, rescued after being thrown from a vehicle, is now on her way to recovery thanks to the kindness of others.
Rescuers with Pit Positive, an animal rescue group, have taken in the dog who they named Angel because of her amazing recovery.
The dog managed to crawl to a nearby house and appeared to be waiting for help. Arthur Fyvolent, with Pit Positive has been taking care of her since she was found last week.
"We often feel like garbage men sometimes people treat these dogs so badly," said Fyvolent.
Angel (Slideshow) has come along way. When she was found, she weighed only 18 pounds, half the size of a healthy pitbull, needed surgery including a blood transfusion. One of Fyvolent's other dogs donated the blood.
"All it takes is a little bit of food a little bit of care it is amazing with their will to live they will come back."
But, Fyvolent says, she needs more surgery, and that will cost money. So volunteers are pitching in and holding a fundraiser called Angel's Paw wash.
It will be held Sunday November 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m The event will be at the Village Grooming at 14442 North Dale Mabry.
Angel's abuser has not been caught. Animal cruelty is a third degree felony.

Our daughter has a pit bull whom we really like, most days more than we like our daughter. She brought him and her other dog which is an American fox hound to our farm for fireworks and he was quite calm whereas the other dog tried to catch the bottle rockets. I still think it was a very poor choice for a pet however.

That poor baby! May she find a loving forever home
We caught a Chihuahua mix that we suspect was thrown out on our very busy street in Houston a week ago. He is about 1 1/2 years old and well fed but would have been dead in minutes if we had not caught him. We already have 4 dogs and can't keep him so if anyone in the Houston area would like a sweet little 14 pound neutered male, please let me know. I'll post pictures if anyone is interested.
Oh my G*D! Words just fail
That’s the worst case of abuse I have ever seen.
I don’t quite know what to say.
Oh, the poor thing!
The poor baby! She’s beautiful.
Praise God this dog was found in time & brought back to full health.
As for the scum that did this to her ~ he might technically “get away” with it in this life, but that will be a different story when he faces God on judgment day.
Thank You.
Every time I see one of these stories, it just breaks my heart. Having rescued several of these dogs in the past few years I can truthfully say that I’d like about 10 minutes alone with the abusers. I think animal cruelty should be a first degree felony. Also, the abusers should be forced to bear the cost of rehabilitating each and every one of these animals, but they should have no rights to ever own another dog, regardless of breed. How unfortunate that there doesn’t appear to be a national database to list the abusive owners and the dog fighters who have been caught thus far. I think their deeds and their pictures should be published for all to see.
Words fail me how evil people can be.....she is such a cute dog !!!!!
Situations like this make me love up my 12 yo lab a little more......
Anyone that treats a dog that badly deserves to be horse whipped.
That makes my heart ache. Incredible that she lived and is on her way to recovery.
I’ll bet she licked the hand of the s.o.b. who starved her and tossed her out to die.
Times like this, I question how mankind is worthy of dogkind.
