How do I post images?

If it's on your computer, you need to upload it to the net somewhere. FR doesn't have a place for your pics.

Once it's online, follow what it says in post #3.

1) Make sure your pictures have been digitized and are on your hard drive somewhere.

2) Sign up for a Photobucket account using 100% fake data [do not use your real name or your real email address, etc]:

http://photobucket.com

3) Upload your pictures from your hard drive to Photobucket.

4) Learn the HTML syntax for posting pictures:

<img src="http://www.whereever.com/mypicture.jpg">

For instance, just as an example grabbed from the Photobucket home page, the following code:

<img src="http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h187/StabArtToDeath1/2a6kqjt-1.jpg">

produces the following picture:

By the way, if you see a picture that you like on the internet, then the easiest way to learn its address is to right click on the picture, scroll to "Properties", and copy the stuff listed in "Address (URL)"

First find a tack and than a hammer.

Hold picture up against your screen in the thread where you want to post it.

Press tack through picture and tap tack with hammer into your screen.

Congratulations! You’ve just posted your first picture here.

If the picture is on your computer and not on the web. You can use www.tinypic.com

Go there and click Upload Picture. The find the picture on your computer. Upload it.

Then select the top option. HTML link. Copy it and past it into the FreeRepublic post.

In most cases, if you right-click on an image that is posted on the web, you will see the URL given. For example, you might see something like:

http://www.jeffhead.com/palin/vacrowd4.jpg

when you right-click an image. You can then copy that URL into the place where OneWingedShark's code says:

"URL-GOES-HERE”

When you do a preview of your post, you should see the image.

Remember: USE FAKE DATA.

Do not use your real name anywhere. Do not use your real email address anywhere. Make sure that the file names themselves don't give away any personal data.

For instance, a picture with a file name like "mike_jones_peoria_illinois.jpg" is not the sort of thing that you would want to upload to the internet - you would definitely want to change the file name to be something random & unintelligible, like "oasidfuslkdeqwr.jpg" or "15683549287.jpg".
