"When the snake came up and was about to strike, everything was just like it was slow motion, because I couldn't get to Drew quick enough and the snake was up ready to strike and Diesel was like a cat," Mr Gralike said.

"He twisted in mid-air, took off on one leg and got between Drew and the snake and grappled with the snake."

The family rushed Diesel to the nearest veterinary clinic where he pulled throu gh after a second dose of anti-venom.

For his courageous act, he received a plaque declaring him the winner of the RSPCA's animal achievement award.

I don't think canines care much about such things. Still, this is a pretty amazing story.

This brings tears to my eyes. Diesel looks just like our beloved Cody that died a couple of year ago.

How many cats would do such a thing?

Cats are worthless compared with dogs.

Good boy!

We had a Jack Russel Terrier do a really remarkable thing. My husband was working in the back room when he heard Bobo bark. A JRT barking was not very unusual but he came to where my husband was and kept going back into the other room barking the whole time. A floor electric plug had shorted out and was shooting sparks up under the couch and was about to set it on fire. Good boy Bobo!

You see the small white patch on the top of his head? It means he is directly related to the original first Australian Cattle Dog aka Blue Heeler.

I’ve got a Half Blue Heeler Half Cocker Spaniel.

Blue Heelers are wonderful working dogs and pets. Good dog, for sure.
