In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
pantheon \PAN-thee-ahn\ noun
1. a temple dedicated to all the gods; also the gods of a people
2. a group of illustrious persons *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
With his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame, the former player joined a pantheon of legends from the sport.
Did you know?
Some of the earliest uses of this word in the English language refer to that most famous Pantheon, the circular domed temple built in Rome more than 19 centuries ago (and still standing). We can easily identify the origins of the temple's name, which the Romans borrowed from the Greek word for a temple honoring all their gods. That Greek word, pantheion, combines pan- ("all") and theos ("god"). Later on, in English, "all the gods" was used to mean just that -- a pantheon could be a collective of gods (as "the Egyptian pantheon"). We stop short of worshiping outstanding men and women as actual gods, of course, but nevertheless, in the 19th century we also began using pantheon as a word for any eminent company of the highly venerated.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Now THIS is class!!!
give mr. lucky extra credit!
Virginia Beach police on trail of Victoria's Secret undies thief
The woman is suspected of swiping 45 low-cut bras and 105 SLT-style panties.
ya gotta read the article to really get the stupidity of this woman --- and as per FR rules, yeah according to the pic she's GUILTY!!!
So is Rob't --- guilty of having a screen name that is a royal PITA to remember.........
Hard to determine guilt or innocence from a cell-phone camera face shot. I think we need to review more evidence, specifically modeling the low-cut bras and the “SLT” panties (is that slut panties?) which should result in a swift verdict (unless there is a hung jury which would be another thong altogether). Dang, now I’m starting to sound like Robert.
ROFL!!!!!!!
Pretty stupid dropping the phone -— OTOH, she’s probably a lot smarter than paying customers. 150 little pieces of cloth totalling $3,300????? Sorry, I have better ways to spend my money than that.
I agree.
Gabz should save her money in times like these, and can easily avoid waisting it on foolish thongs like underwear .....
This woman must join the pantheon of retards:
