Looks like FR is starting to feel the pressure from the election.
What links do people use to get on when FR goes down and what is the deal with the yahoo group people use? I always am out of the loop on that.
The Yahoo Groups link:

Looks like we may need it. FR isn’t going to make it.
Beta site:

Our Canadian sister site:

That awful Yahoo! chatroom:

FWIW, we’re turning in about 7:30 and leaving in fate’s hands- back in the early hours.
God bless America.
This is my second time to try to reply. The first time just went to an error timed-out message. So yes, seems like the problems are already starting.
I sure hope after all the new equipment and funds raised that FR will not have major issues today/tonight. The Yahoo group is good, but not many people post there even when FR is down. So, we really need FR to stay “on the air.”
I would suggest beer.
BUMP.
Thanks...I thought that was just for the Illuminaughty members. ;0)
Man this is slow!
I just popped my first top.
It’s been slow like this since about 8am.
There is a yahoo FR site, but it really sucks.
Good old IRC - yupper internet relay chat (or any modern chat client, and most browsers)

join channel #freerepublic
I’m using that beta site and it’s not as slow.
same here; going pretty fast
I didn’t know about the beta site until this morning when FR went down. Someone on the Yahoo Group posted the link.
I have an old forum that hasn’t been used in eons. It isn’t as cumbersome as yahoo.

If by “Free Republic” you mean the U.S. of A. then I think the “backup links” are New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and maybe a few islands in the South Pacific.
