Being in oil and gas in Houston and working at times for BP and BG formerly British Petroleum and British Gas I can tell you it's a lot like that. My wife once met me at a bar where I was already deeply in conversation with a few Scots and Brits. when we finally got to dinner she said she couldn't understand a thing anyone was saying. England and America, two countries separated by a common language.

This morning they played a taped interview of Chevy Chase and the way he use to satirize President Gerald Ford stumbling around. Chase said they did that to influence the election.

I’ve always like David Letterman but I’ve got to wonder about him.

I had a college English teacher who showed us how southern English was closer to the mother tongue than northern “english’ which is bastardized by immigrants from from all over Europe. I have no love for Letterman. I don’t watch late night shows because I know they cater to libtards. But if something is funny it’s funny regards of who says it.
