Studs Terkel died this afternoon at his home on the North Side of Chicago.
The 96-year-old Pulitzer Prize-winning author, television pioneer, theatrical actor, radio host for nearly half a century, unrepentent leftie and friend of the little man passed away peacefully after a short time in home hospice care.
"He had a very full, eventful and sometimes tempestuous life ," said his son Dan. "It was very satisfactory."

Well, If Obama is to win this thing, we can take some small measure of satisfaction that Studs Terkel did not live to see a Socialist elected to the White House.
You got to take your good news where you find it, these days...

He was so old school that he was OK even though a leftie
Same as Hillary is more palatable than Obama because of her age and being educated in the decent public schools that existed when she was young

Exactly. And he lived so long and had seen and done so much, that I just liked hearing him tell about the old times.

Studs most ironic quote:

Read the first couple of chapters of his book, “Working”, and then skimmed through it. Studs thought the vast majority of American workers were opressed by work.
To: Borges
unrepentent leftie and friend of the little man This is an oxymoron.

I drove a cab for about 10 years. Every so often I’d pick up someone who would loudly proclaim that they were “For the Little Guy!”, or “Working Man”, it was prety much the same. If they said it once, I could kiss my tip good bye. If it was mentioned more than once, I knew getting paid would be a problem. Obambi and his supporters have said many times that they are for the “Little Guy”. I figure we’re pretty much effed.
